NED University is Pakistan’s flagship engineering institution which shall soon be celebrating its centenary. The university is known for producing high quality graduates and for its service to the nation. It has become a place of excellence in Pakistan in higher education and scientific research. These are the results of sustained efforts the university has made over the years towards faculty development, and creativity and innovation.
NED University provides best learning environment to its students and researchers. The university has state of the art laboratories for use by the students, faculty and industry. Our mission is to make research and development, and innovation a strategic priority for the university, as these are essential elements for the sustainable development and economic growth of the country. The university aims to strengthen its existing linkages with other academic institutions, government and industry, and to develop new linkages.
The NED University of Engineering & Technology, was established in March 1977 under an act of the Provincial Assembly of Sindh after upgrading of the former NED Government Engineering College, which was set up in 1921. The NED University is thus one of the oldest institution in Pakistan for teaching and producing Engineering graduates. Prior to this, the D.J.Sindh College , used to run classes to train subordinates for the Sindh P.W.D., the Municipalities and Local Boards.
The original NED Engineering College was housed in four blocks of buildings and two sheds. The main block was named as Seth Fatehchand Dewandas Khilnani Hall. The block housing the Power House, Electrical and Hydraulics Laboratories, and Workshops was named after Bai Puribai and Bacharbai. Further additions were made to this block to provide accommodation for the Machine Shop on the ground floor and a (Mechanical) Drawing Hall on the first floor. The fourth block, completed in 1945, contained a Classroom and Clerk's Office on the ground floor and another (Civil) Drawing Hall on the first floor.
On the 1st of March, 1977 the NED Government Engineering College became the NED University of Engineering and Technology. From an enrolment of 50 students in 1923, the student population, at both undergraduate and graduate levels, has now gone up to nearly 7000.
Our Vision is "Be a leader in enabling Pakistan's social and economic transformation". Our Mission is "Acquire education and research excellence in engineering and allied disciplines to produce leadership and enabling application of knowledge and skills for the benefit of the society with integrity and wisdom".

Thank you once again for doing your part to keep Edarabia the most trusted education source.
A great place to study. But the management should change the admission criteria. It should not be solely based on Intermediate percentage. The entry test marksshould be given equal weightage.

Ned Takes in donkeys from the system adds zero value, hands over diplomas.
Thank you NED!
That is the general impression.
Fees are cheap and very affordable what really you’d expect at this price.
You get diploma, you get job that’s it, but is it?
Students here are the cream of Karachi, the highest merit people, who should go a long way for the development of this country.
This place could really do more..
I think and I wish..
I personally Love NED but please government and concerned authorities do more.. this crowd could do more.. this uni can do more..
It has left so much to wish for in terms of personality development, grooming, confidence building and so much more. I continue to respect this institution for its merit intakes and education for all (poor or rich)policy but I really wish that more research based studies are introduced, extra curricular is more organized, more concentration on self grooming and recognizing different talents is made, students are more trained and encouraged towards taking part in research at all levels, thinking big attitude is taught and more pragmatic corporate attitudes are induced.

NED stands for Nadirshaw Edulji Dinshaw, named after a Parsi philanthropist. It is the only state engineering University of the city. I have myself studied from the same campus. It provides a 4 year engineering degree in a very nominal semester tuition fees. Their degree is recognized all over the academic and professional world.

It's one of the finest engineering colleges in Pakistan. It is well known for three major enginnering courses, namely:
1. Mechanical Engg.
2. Civil Engg.
3. Electrical Engg.

Although NEDUET has a status of being an old engineering university in Pakistan, but it lacks in the field of research. There are no proper University Research Schools or University Research Colleges System in it, all the departments are merged in one another. Moreover, political influence, unfair behavior of administration, mismanagement, avoiding many departments & bad discipline with students led the university towards downfall.... And now, many engineering Institutes become better choice for students, rather than NED.

Indeed the university is one of the top universities of Sindh. The total western system of education and curriculum are followed. But the only drawback of NED is the lack of teachers's skills and excellence to deliver the best quality lecture. Rather a majority of the teachers have poor ability to teach.
The administration have also gone worse.

A great place for studies in the field of Engineering & Technology whose students compete with any university of the world. NED needs true focus of Govt.authorities to have far better results.
