Anglia Ruskin’s story starts in 1858, when the art critic, patron and philanthropist John Ruskin opened Cambridge School of Art. The art school grew to become Anglia Ruskin University, and it’s still at the heart of our modern-day campus in Cambridge. Over the years, a number of colleges and institutes have become part of Anglia Ruskin. They include the Cambridgeshire College of Arts and Technology (CCAT) and the Essex Institute of Higher Education (formerly the Chelmer Institute – itself formed from the Mid-Essex Technical College and the Brentwood College of Education). At first, these colleges combined to become Anglia Polytechnic, and then Anglia Polytechnic University in 1992. We’ve been known as Anglia Ruskin University since 2005.
We have campuses in Chelmsford, London and Peterborough. Our Chelmsford campus was originally in the city centre but moved to a new, purpose-built site in 1992. Today, you’ll find our striking, modern buildings nestled by the river in the city’s University and Innovation Quarter. Meanwhile, our campus at Guild House, Peterborough opened in 2011. It’s a dedicated healthcare site where we train many of our region’s nurses and healthcare professionals.
We were pleased to introduce a new campus in the heart of London, where students study subjects including business, law and finance at undergraduate and postgraduate level. We’ve invested over £100 million in our campuses in recent years. Cambridge benefitted from a major redevelopment in 2011, and in 2014 we completed work on our dedicated healthcare site on Young Street. It houses state-of-the-art clinical skills labs including mock hospital wards. Young Street is also home to our specialist Music Therapy Centre. In 2018, we opened a brand new Science Centre.
Transforming lives through innovative, inclusive and entrepreneurial education and research. We are determined to achieve our goals and continually strive to enhance our University for the benefit of all. We will apply our collective and individual creativity to conceive and develop new ideas, implementing them for the benefit of the communities we serve. We are bold in taking the decisions we feel are right, even when it is difficult to do so. We greatly value working collaboratively, supporting each other and helping everyone to achieve their potential. We do what we say we will do and are fair and transparent in our decision-making and actions. We take decisions and act in a way which respects environmental, societal and economic considerations, and which best supports those who study and work with us.
Our students are at the heart of our University, and we want to deliver an outstanding educational experience. To do this, we'll combine the best of face-to-face and digital learning in all our courses; increase work-based opportunities; and offer activities that enhance academic success and employability.
Over the next ten years, our aim is to maximise the impact of our research by focusing on areas of key international and regional need. We'll also use our research expertise to enhance our curriculum. We always strive to contribute to the economic, social and cultural wellbeing of our region. And so we'll continue to build partnerships with businesses; communicate the impact of our research; and open up our campuses for all to enjoy.
We will be inclusive and welcoming of all who want to study with us, measuring our success by their success. We'll have a particular focus on continuing to attract and retain international students, and growing our postgraduate student communities.Building on our reputation as a good employer, we will focus on attracting and keeping the very best people we can. Our aim is to become a university that is greater than the sum of its parts. We will nurture the wider ARU community, including schools and colleges, alumni, and friends and supporters.

Thank you once again for doing your part to keep Edarabia the most trusted education source.
Horrible teaching and worthless degree. Companies won't even take your degree seriously until you have extensive experience for the role you apply for. If you want to pay so much just to buy a degree that won't be useful to you in any way then go ahead, otherwise choose any other uni across the UK.

Please think twice before joining this university, there is a reason they are ranked 118th out of 129 universities in the UK.
Not only is the education you recieve essentially non-existsent, but a degree from such a low-ranking university is also worthless in the job market. I would reccomend anyone to think long and hard before considering Anglia Ruskin, trust me you are better off not even getting a degree at all, or at least stay another year in college and increase your UCAS points so you'll be allowed into a decent institution. These universities that capitalise on the government's willingness to provide a student loan to even the most incompetent students should be made illegal.

Some of the lecturers were very good, but unfortunately some of the lecturers did not have the same enthusiasm and so this reflected in their teaching. One of the other problems was the online system which you needed access to in order to view related documents. This did not work properly all the time and was increasingly slow when using the computers in the University.

In my opinion Anglia Ruskin University is even better than Cambridge. It is far more diverse, both in terms of students' ethnicities as well as economic backgrounds. If you don't want to be in a bubble and hope to study with people from all sorts of walks of life then ARU is the place to go. I had so much support from all my lecturers which helped me get a strong First Class Honours in Music (go see them in the beginning of the semester when nobody bothers to).

I have been a part of the Faculty of Medial Sciences. I must say, It was a great experience. you never feel alone. Everybody is there for your help. I found the food served at the East Road campus the most hygienic food. They really work hard to make sure that you have healthiest meal. I also must appreciate library and IT service. Their responses were always quick and effective. I am proud of being an ARU student.

Hardly clean area, accommodation not clean for freshers arriving, they staff and security don't really care much about the students or visitors that are coming in for the students. Not very hygienic at all. Not such of a safe place in a poshish area. Disappointment

Absolutely superb experience.. this is my second degree and compared to my previous university in the mid 90's it's not comparable ..it's honestly like comparing day and night! The support offered is better than most organised top Plc's that I've worked for! They really do care about you and your degree equality.. The tutors are so nice and they're proactive in their approach to your well-being and your degree equally and the support services available are superb as I've mentioned above! I've even had them visit me at home to save me travelling to Uni!
The actual degree itself is top quality, up to date with the latest practices with superb technology to make it so easy to study in the way that suits and works for you.. they also have an App that ties it all together!

At this University in Cambridge, the dedication of the staff to student success is nothing short of inspiring, and the remarkable growth I've seen in my child has filled me with pride.
