Aston Business School’s strategic focus on relevance and rigour has led to the School’s excellent reputation in the business world and has attracted highly regarded corporate connections. These connections are reflected in their impact on the employability and global mobility of Aston Business School’s graduates and as a result, Aston is consistently ranked as one of the top institutions in the UK for employability.
The School’s international faculty is supplemented by the visiting scholar programme that was implemented during 2003 to provide funding to bring leading international researchers to Aston to work alongside colleagues in the research groups.
The School has also continued to strengthen its links with international partners, and is focusing on deeper relationships with a few high quality institutions. As well as facilitating student exchanges, the School’s flexible style of agreement has enabled these partnerships to include many other activities, such as staff exchanges, research links, sharing of materials, development of joint programmes, group study visits, and arranging work placements.
We understand the importance of career progression and there exist several procedures to support the development of our staff. Further information on all of the benefits of working at Aston can be found on the Aston Human Resources website.
The Graduate School's main objective is to provide a supportive environment for all research students across the University, whatever their mode of study and wherever they are located, with a view to widening and enriching their experience during their research studies. The Graduate School is also responsible for maintaining the quality of research degree programmes and the development of training in core research and transferable skills, thus enabling all research students studying for an Aston degree to realise their full potential, whichever pathway they choose.
Your School is the main centre for the delivery of subject-specific postgraduate training and development. Complementing this, the Graduate School provides a focus for the sharing of ideas and best practice between the Schools. The Graduate School supports and promotes cross-institutional work and studies and, together with the Aston Postgraduate Research Society (APRS), which is sponsored by Schools, promotes both academic and social events. These will provide many research students with the opportunity to interact with other research students across the academic disciplines.
There is no doubt that the journey from enrolment to graduation will be a challenging one, but it should also be an enjoyable one. Both the Graduate School team and your School are here to give you full support and advice whenever you need it.
Information you will need during your study is contained in the Student Handbook or can be found in these Graduate School webpages which contain links to Support, Regulations, Training & Development and other opportunities which you may wish to embark upon.
During your studies, you will also be supported by a Graduate Development Team, with experts in different areas (for example, Library Services, Career Development, Research & Knowledge Exchange) who collectively provide a range of training and development opportunities for research students and research staff. Engagement in these opportunities provides an excellent forum for the exchange of ideas and information across discipline boundaries, and is an important part of your research development.
The Graduate School Rooms are located on the sixth floor of the Main Building and include a Postgraduate Student Common Room (MB652C), a place for you to discuss, work or simply relax.

I visited Aston University for 3 months and I really enjoyed it. The people are very nice and friendly. It has an international atmosphere. Lecturers are very good. The campus is beautiful, especially the lake and the birds. The location of university is great, it's close to city centre.

Very good standard university, mostly friendly and helpful lecturers and staff, a lot of resources (computers etc) available for students (some of the lecture rooms have tables with plugs to charge your phone and cupholders). Great location as it is right next to the city centre for all your shopping and other needs.

I enjoyed my Uni days at Aston as I made real friends and loved the green campus. However, there were racist staff in the School of Life and Health Sciences and they constantly made comments that degraded international students. If you are a non-eu student, do not attend Aston University as there are other universities in Birmingham that are more welcoming.

Guys do not go to this university,It's a money making thing. Their professors are not getting held accountable for leaking exams instead university penalize students by forcing them to repeat the year. university Dean does not understand the financial burden on students. It just happened to my family member recently. What a shame I request all the students to go to a legal help. Approach immigration Canada and make them aware of this fraud..

The employees "teachers/heads" lie to you , treat you like idiots just to get rid of you. worst of all education takes a back seat as money and their reputation holds priority. ..

Racist university with racist and irresponsible lecturers. My biggest mistake of life was coming to this university believing the national ranking. Forget about recommending to someone, if anybody I know wants to have admission to this university, I will stop that person as strongly as I can.
