Our mission and values were developed in consultation with BMet staff, students and key stakeholders. They underpin everything that we do.

Vision, Values, Strategic Priorities
In developing our vision, values and strategic priorities, we have consulted with our staff, students and stakeholders. We believe that our vision and values provide clear direction for a college that is for Birmingham and at the heart of Birmingham.

Our Strap Line
Inspiring Futures, Realising Dreams.

Our Vision
We aim to provide excellent learning opportunities to serve the needs of Birmingham and the City Region.

Our Values

  • We are passionate to see our students achieve their full potential.
  • We create an environment that is ready, respectful and safe.
  • We see strength in our diversity and strive for equality of access and opportunity.
  • We are inspired to be creative and continually develop our professional practice.
  • We are three colleges, one team.

Our strategic priorities are to:

  1. be a significant contributor to skills development in Birmingham and the City Region;
  2. provide a consistently high-quality learning experience;
  3. equip our students for the future;
  4. be an inspiring place to work; and
  5. have a strong financial base to invest in a sustainable future for the college.

The college is responding actively to the key social, economic and policy changes that the Covid environment has brought about.   We feel that now more than ever it is critical that BMet, in collaboration with our stakeholders and partners, responds quickly to provide the best opportunities to retrain and upskill, to give our students and the communities we serve the greatest chances to secure sustained employment.

We offer a wide range of courses for people of all ages across our colleges in Birmingham. Take a look at our prospectuses to see the range, from pre-entry up to Level 5, including A Levels, BTECs, NVQs, apprenticeships, HND/Foundation Degrees, honours degree programmes, professional qualifications, Access to Higher Education and short courses for adults, many of which are free for job seekers.

Here at BMet, we believe it’s important to get the right study/life balance and during your time with us you will get access to extra-curricular activities designed to develop your skills, experience and confidence. This includes activities such as, social clubs and societies, events and competitions. You can also take advantage of our links with some of the biggest business employers in the area by joining the Professional Services Academy.

We are one of the leading FE Colleges in terms of sporting success, with teams regularly achieving recognition in regional and national competitions. You could join one of our award-winning Sports Academies.

We have lots of ways for you to have your say about college life. We encourage students to become Learner Representatives for their course, offering a chance to share views and ideas with fellow students and the Head of College. We take part in the BIG Teaching and Learning Survey every year and all the results are shared with students. We also conduct a number of focus groups across the academic year where we ask for students views. You might even be inspired to run for student governor.

The Student Welfare team and Dan are really supportive when it comes to helping their students. They ensure the students safety and always walk around with a smile on their faces. This makes me and other student feel comfortable when walking into this relaxed environment which others may find rather daunting. I am currently attending Sutton College doing a Health and Social Care course and i am truly grateful for all the hard work the staff put into make this such an enjoyable experience.

Terrible service. Nobody’s wants to know about the problem i had which was not receiving my certificate from last year. The person who’s meant to be head of the education on my course hasn’t helped once doesn’t even bother answering the phone or emails. Overall it’s like talking to a brick wall that covers their owns backs when got a problem.

Male teachers in this college are not friendly at all! Especially business teachers! They think they are all that.I was going to report a teacher from there but then I thought there is no point coz at the end of the day the head of college begs to weird teachers to stay. I was really disappointed they talk in a way which will make you slap in their face 100 times! FIX UP BMC TEACHERS

There are many facilities available to help complete work and support is there if needed. There are many opportunities to progress both with and without teachers help.
