We are in the top 2% of universities globally, based on approximately 10,000 universities in the world (QS World's University Rankings 2017/18). The National Student Survey 2016 placed us 28th in the UK and joint 3rd in Scotland, with 90% of students were satisfied overall with their course in over half of the University's subject areas. Top 30 in the UK and 4th in Scotland in the Guardian University League Table 2018. We are 39th in the world and 13th in the UK for our international outlook based on THE World University Rankings 2016/17. 95% of graduates are in employment or further study within six months of graduation.

Heriot-Watt University is overseen and governed by a number of key personnel, Boards and Committees.
The University is established by Royal Charter that is approved by Her Majesty the Queen. The Royal Charter has several stipulations, including to establish the Court, the Senate and the posts of senior officers of the University: Principal, Vice-Principal and Secretary.
The other governing document is the Statutes which prescribes in greater detail the governance requirements.

WORSE THAN PRISON. Everyone should avoid this university like the plague. The quality of some of the teaching was poor and the choice of modules for my course was very limited. Staff and students are also often rude. Bullying is rampant, and harassment by staff and students is condoned and tolerated even if you report it several times or make a complaint. Staff also seem to think that they're above the law and the rules. The worst years of my life were spent at this university, and the only reason I put up with it was because my parents wanted me to stay and finish my degree. Possibly the worst university in Scotland/UK.

Best 4 years of my life. The teaching staff were all amazing and due to small class sizes, you got to know everyone including the lecturers well. The level of support was also outstanding. 10/10 wish I could go back.
