Nestled within our City Campus overlooking the Sheffield skyline, The Sheffield College has a little culinary secret we would like to share with you – The Silver Plate Restaurant.
Run by our fantastic Catering and Hospitality students under the supervision of our expert staff (three of whom are Master Chefs of Great Britain), the department has recently been awarded a much coveted Hospitality Guild gold accreditation, with Patisserie and Food & Beverage Service also being recognised as Centres for Excellence. In addition The Silver Plate Restaurant has been awarded the prestigious AA College Rosette Highly Commended award – one of only four colleges nationally to hold such accolades.
Serving exquisite, varied, and locally sourced food throughout the week, the award winning Silver Plate Restaurant allows students to showcase their talent as we host tasting menus, lunch and evening meals, and our sought after themed nights to the public.
The Silver Plate has links with a range of top industry chefs, including Rupert Rowley (Head Chef of Michelin starred restaurant Fischer’s at Baslow) and Tom Lawson of double AA Rosette restaurant, Rafters. These chefs regularly provide our students with guest lectures and support them to provide our customers with the highest quality food and service.
The Sheffield College is committed to safeguard and promote the welfare of young people and vulnerable adults. The governors and staff recognise that a safe and trustworthy environment combined with clear lines of communication and decisive action ensures the best outcomes for all students. The College expects all staff, volunteers and partners to endorse and practice this commitment at all times.
Equality, Diversity and Inclusion at The Sheffield College means that we are determined to eliminate unfairness wherever we find it. We will address discrimination directly and relentlessly pursue the creation of a culture that does not tolerate it in any form.
We have a good record of reducing the gaps in success between groups of students from different backgrounds and recognise we need to do more. We work with our students, staff, employers and other stakeholders to promote equality and celebrate diversity in everything we do.
The Sheffield College is at an exciting stage with a thriving student population, a strong and growing business portfolio and a stunning new City campus.
The Sheffield College is all about people, whether that is our learners, our staff or our partners. Our students come from many different backgrounds and we’re proud to support them in achieving the greatest of success. To do this we need the right kind of people working with us. We know that the right people really can make a difference, so we’re committed to recruiting and retaining talented individuals who share our values and can help us achieve our plans for the future.
From administrators to lecturers and refectory staff to technicians there is a huge range of talent in our team – working together to help drive the College forward. Whatever your background and whatever your role, we aim to recognise and reward your contribution.
Our students have the right to expect and receive high quality education and our colleagues deserve to be valued and respected. Together we can provide an exceptional learner experience
We aim to promote a culture where people can achieve and be recognised for their achievements, where people have the support they need to develop themselves and where people are valued and treated with respect. By doing this, we believe we will not only attract the best candidates, but we will also create a better, more productive and successful working environment.
Being 'values led' means we look at how we work together, our attitude to work and how we treat each other. Our values of achieving excellence, promoting inclusiveness, great relationships, innovating and being a great place to work and learn, all support our core value to be learner driven, which is at the heart of everything we do at The Sheffield College.

Thank you once again for doing your part to keep Edarabia the most trusted education source.
Complete waste of three years of life doing a degree here. Staff are none existent, stressed or rude. They do not see it their job or role to educate you, help you or motivate you on your chosen course. All they want is your money And the kudos of claiming your success as theirs. lessons were cut short, they were moved, mailboxes were full and they would actively dodge you in college time and refuse to talk to you when you are having difficulties. The resources are not acedmic level and the course I was on no where near compares with that offered at a proper university. If you want the paperwork and can achieve it in your sleep then do the level 4 5 or 6 here but for me it was a massive waste of £18k that I could have spent somewhere that produces industry ready creatives. Useless and should not be teaching degree level here.

This college is the worst! When you need help you are told different things staff will not admit they are in the wrong about something when they are caught out on it (they lie to you so you always have to record them when on the phone to staff or face to face) and once you put in a complaint it doesn't go anywhere because they are all on the same team... hardly any teachers so all classes in the college are full to the point people can not get onto a course because the rooms are full/ know one has anywhere to sit in the classrooms worst experience especially when doing your final year to go to university and you can not even have a good time here and have all this built up stress with course work and some of the staff who are rude and don't help you at all will not recommend this college to anyone prefer hillsborough college

If you care about your or your child's education then do not use this college.
Education is very poor. It's a very unhelpful college. If the head of education bothered to investigate this college it would be changed and not left to be run in this unsatisfactory manner. I'm very sad that my daughter has decided to leave rather then do the next level due to how bad this college is. They are letting people down in a big way and it's not fair. But I suppose it's how the world is becoming. If I manage to make one person look elsewhere then I feel I have helped.
It's really not a good environment.
