The University of Winchester was established in 1840, and it combines this heritage with innovative learning and teaching. The University of Winchester is a values-driven institution which offers excellent programmes of study sustained by teaching and research of the highest quality.
We are passionate about seeing our students flourish. As a Winchester student you will have access to a rigorous education in a supportive and creative environment. You will be nurtured and challenged to grow as a confident and successful individual committed to a life of meaning and purpose, determined to challenge the status quo.
Our Open Days and Campus Tours are a great opportunity to see our beautiful campus, take a tour of our stunning accommodation and meet staff and students from the course you are looking to study. Open days and applicant opens days are open to all so we look forward to welcoming you to our campus soon.
When you booked your place you will have been asked to select a Welcome Talk time: either 10am, 10.45am or 11.30am. This marks the start of your day. We suggest arriving at least 15 minutes before the start time to give yourself time to park and check in. If you arrive a little earlier or a little later, don't worry - we will direct you to the next available Welcome Talk time.
The Open Day finishes once you have received all the information you need. However, all of our main services finish by 4pm (please see the programme). We often find that visitors spend at least 4 hours with us in order to fit everything in. If you do finish early then we recommend that you visit our beautiful, historic city centre.
We recommend that you bring along your QR code either on your phone/mobile device or as a print out, this will help to speed up the check in process. If you did not receive a QR code or you forget to bring it with you then don't worry, we can check you in just as easily without one.
Firstly, please check your junk mail box - your email filters may be blocking us. If you still haven't received it then please give us a call or send us an email so we can check that we have definitely received your booking. We can then send you all the information you need.
Our Open Days are very busy and parking on campus is limited, but we will try our best to provide you with a free parking space. Parking is allocated on a first-booked-first-served basis. When you booked your place online you will have selected either 'Standard Parking,' 'Disabled Parking,' or 'Parking not required'.
When you arrive you will be directed to the Check In desks by one of our friendly Student Ambassadors. You will then be able to register your attendance, collect your Open Day pack and attend a Welcome Talk. All of our courses are represented by an academic at all of our Open Days. However, they may not be available throughout the day. We recommend that you check what time your Course Talks are running and attend one of these. Please refer to the programme, which is available on our website around 2-3 weeks before the event. If you arrive a little late and miss your Course Talk, please visit our Course Fair, where you can find out more from a course representative.
Campus Tours are a great way to explore our beautiful campus and student accommodation. The tours are guided by current students who will give you a flavour of student life here. Tours are held during the week, usually on a weekly basis with additional tours provided during school half term holidays. If you are coming to an Open Day or Campus Tour and have a disability, you may wish to meet with one of our Disability Advisers who will be able to discuss the support we are able to offer. Please be aware the campus has a number of gradients and steps, however, access is available to most parts of the campus.
Our values of Compassion, Individuals Matter and Spirituality shape how we do this and why – we believe academic freedom leads to big ideas which in turn lead to social justice and creativity for a better world. Conscious of the kinship that exists between all life, we seek to nurture compassion and embody social justice for people, animals and the planet. This is a supportive, caring and safe place to work and study. Staff and students are supported to flourish, encouraged to help others and empowered to make a difference in the world. We seek to challenge and nurture in all staff and students a love and value for all life and the planet. Staff and students are empowered to change the world for the better, challenge convention with compassion and stand up for what they believe to be true.
We are passionate about seeing individuals flourish here. The dignity and wellbeing of individuals is important as are their opinions and views. We are committed to working globally to ensure equality and justice for all. Everyone is welcome here. Staff and students will learn to value and appreciate others, whoever they are and whatever their background. Together, we will be supported and challenged to reach our full potential. Our staff and students are nurtured to embrace equality, diversity and inclusivity to the full. Staff and students are supported to fight for integrity and justice in a world of compromises and prejudice.
We celebrate our Anglican Christian foundation and welcome people of all faiths and none. We believe that everyone expresses their spirituality through a unique collage of values, disciplines and practices. Working and studying here will give you a chance to experience and reflect on the creativity, beauty and compassion in life – together, we aim to explore the mystery of life and grow in wisdom and love.
Our passion is to see staff and students grow as a whole person. It is safe to try new things here, to stand up for what you believe in. You will be supported to engage with the big and deep questions of life, to bring about change and really make a difference. We seek to challenge and develop staff and students’ thinking, enabling them to develop in wisdom for a fulfilling life as well as the knowledge they need for a successful career. Our staff and students will have the resilience and resourcefulness to seize the opportunities and face the challenges of life.

Thank you once again for doing your part to keep Edarabia the most trusted education source.
At least one professor does not have a PhD or published work! Unbelievable. Lecturers on MA or MSc courses do not often have PhDs. If you value academia, this is not the university for you.
