he University is a co-educational, non-denominational, government-supported institution within the Province of Manitoba. It is a member of the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada (AUCC) and the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU).  The Baptist Home Mission first sent missionaries to southwestern Manitoba in 1869 and settlers began to arrive in the area after 1871. Both settlers and missionaries soon saw a need for a denominational college for Manitoba youth and several attempts to found a college were made.

In 1880, Dr. John Crawford and Rev. G. B. Davis opened Prairie College in Rapid city, 20 miles north of Brandon. The College failed and Rev. Davis founded a small academy in Rapid City that was subsequently taken over by his brother-in-law, Prof. S. J. McKee. McKee’s Academy was moved to Brandon in 1890 following the projection of the CPR mainline through the Assiniboine Valley that resulted in the marked growth of the city of Brandon.

This university is one of the best in the world. I wish international students from Africa, Asia and the Caribbean would give a serious consideration to this BU.

The people in the recruiting department of Brandon are really great. They are so helpful and quite knowledgeable about all of the programs that BU has to offer. The atmosphere of Brandon University is much more homey and inclusive than Manitoba's other universities.

Great university if you like small classes and be able to talk to your profs one on one. Tuition fees are affordable, so you won't go broke after graduation.

Great teachers, really care about your grades and everything. One problem I seem to always have is that Brandon university loves giving out false information. No matter what I do they tell me one thing then the next they tell me another thing...

Descent small university. The relationships that the small class sizes allow you to build with the professor's is invaluable. I know many of them on a first name basis. It is also very cheap.
