Since 1838, Judson College has been committed to preparing young women for lives of purpose through the transmission of knowledge, the refinement of intellect, the nurturing of faith, the promotion of service, and the development of character. A private, four-year, Christian college with degree programs in liberal arts and the sciences, Judson College helps each student reach her full potential by providing her with opportunities to engage her mind, practice her faith, and live her purpose.

With a student to faculty ratio of 9:1 and an institutional commitment to teaching rather than research, Judson provides an academically engaging and emotionally supportive environment in which highly-trained instructors place the utmost priority on student learning. Judson currently offers 20 majors, 22 minors, 10 pre-professional degree programs, and the Associate Degree in Nursing. Faculty involve students in research and creative projects that help them prepare to enter graduate programs and meaningful careers, and every College employee takes a genuine interest in our students’ best interests.

Weekly chapel services are only the beginning of our commitment to be “a place of Christ.” Through Bible studies, mentoring groups, and co-curricular events designed to encourage spiritual growth, students are challenged to discern their life’s purpose and develop strategies for living out their vocations through their careers, their meaningful relationships in communities and churches, and their daily decisions. Judson’s motto “Lux et Veritas,” or “Light and Truth,” reflects not only our commitment to seek knowledge, which is illumined by the light and truth of God, but also our desire to reflect God’s light and truth in the world. Recognized by the Washington Monthly for our commitment to the “greater good,” we believe that each of our students has the potential and responsibility to positively impact our community, our nation, and our world.

Over the past twenty years, 96% of Judson women have been employed or have entered graduate school within a year of graduation. Through academic and co-curricular experiences, Judson helps each student find her voice while she earns the credentials that will help her voice be heard. As the only women’s college in Alabama and the most affordable women’s college in the nation, Judson is committed to being a place devoted to young women. We believe that this environment helps our students develop the knowledge, confidence, and leadership skills they need to achieve their goals in a more profound way than they could in a coeducational setting.

Inspired by the example and mentoring of dedicated faculty and staff, students learn to embody the “Judson Spirit” by embracing community, thinking critically, developing courage and integrity, and leading through compassionate service, answering their Alma Mater’s call to “high endeavor, lofty thought, and noble deed.”

After 178 years, Judson College remains loyal to its original mission of educating young women in preparation for a life of service. We are a community that finds ongoing meaning in our shared traditions of the past, work in the present, and hopes for the future as we seek to recognize and embody God’s light and truth in the world.

Judson College, a private, undergraduate institution committed to academic excellence in the arts, sciences, and professional studies, offers distinguished student-centered academic programs in a residential, single-gender setting and through distance education to both genders. As a caring, collegiate community related to the Alabama Baptist Convention, Judson College is dedicated to maturing its students into well-adjusted and productive citizens through the transmission of knowledge, the refinement of intellect, the nurturing of faith, the promotion of service, and the development of character.

The twenty-first century marks the beginning of Judson’s third century of service. The College must consider all that is behind her a preamble to the future. The institution will endeavor to become the finest Christian college of arts, sciences, and professional studies for women in America. Twenty-first century students must be academically prepared for life and learning, always ready to exemplify the light and teachings of Christ.

Judson College is a purposeful, caring community of students and employees who live, work, serve, and learn together, and who are united by faith in God and adherence to Christian traditions. Based upon the character and teaching of Christ, the Judson community commits itself to “Principles of Light and Truth” that frame our common concerns and core values.Acceptance of these values is a pledge to exercise them consistently in our treatment of others, and to expect to be treated in kind.

At Judson College, we’re interested in helping our students become their best selves–women who are prepared to make intelligent choices and pursue “life work” that glorifies God and makes a difference in the world. With a student to faculty ratio of 9:1 and an institutional commitment to teaching rather than research, Judson provides an academically engaging and emotionally supportive environment in which highly-trained instructors place the utmost priority on student learning. Faculty involve students in research and creative projects that help them prepare to enter graduate programs and meaningful careers, and every College employee takes a genuine interest in our students’ best interests. From the time young women start to consider attending Judson, faculty and staff advise and mentor them, beginning cherished relationships that grow even after graduation.

Judson offers 20 academic majors, 22 minors, 10 pre-professional programs, and an Associate’s Degree in a supportive campus environment that ranked in the top 10% in a recent National Survey of Student Engagement. Over the past twenty years, 96% of Judson women have been employed or have entered graduate school within a year of graduation, going forth to answer their Alma Mater’s call to “high endeavor, lofty thought, and noble deed.”

When I first came to Judson College I wasn't sure about the whole "all girls school" but the truth is that now I realize that that is not important. Judson offers a great learning environment and the faculty...wow! Marion is a really small town, but there are bigger cities not too far away. It has really been a great experience, and I've made some good friends.
