Our study abroad tuition policy allows you to apply your IWU tuition and scholarship or need-based assistance toward the cost of studying abroad for a semester. This means virtually any student who attends Illinois Wesleyan can afford to study abroad. This opportunity is something we encourage students to experience while at Illinois Wesleyan.Undergraduate research is a hallmark of Illinois Wesleyan and the Eckley program is just one of many sponsored programs that take place during the school year and over the summer. As an exclusively undergraduate university, students have greater access to research opportunities, because they do not compete with graduate students.

Illinois Wesleyan University was founded in 1850 by a diverse group of 30 civic and religious leaders who came together to establish "an Institution of learning of Collegiate grade." When a sponsor was needed, the founders gained support from the United Methodist Church, which is how "Wesleyan" was added to the original name, "Illinois University." The University's relationship with the church has evolved over the years. While maintaining its Methodist affiliation, true to its founding roots Illinois Wesleyan continues to be a diverse and inclusive community, independent in its governance.

The Illinois Wesleyan University campus looks very nice. Buildings are all pretty new, up to date. Inside the buildings everything looks nice, state of the art computers. It is everything you would expect in a college of its caliber and more. If you plan on coming to IWU you should get involved in something. With it being such a small school there are many opportunities to become a leader.

Illinois Wesleyan University was a tremendous school. Opportunities are plentiful, but you have to have the motivation to seek them out. You'll receive a top-flight education here if you work for it.

My experience at Illinois Wesleyan University was superior. I limited myself in my college search, and was probably not as informed as I should have been. That's why I consider myself extremely lucky to have landed at a school as terrific as Illinois Wesleyan. Although my academic experience was a good one, and I performed extremely well, it was the wide array of extracurricular options that still benefit me to this day. You can step onto campus and become a leader right away...and be given the resources to do so. If you're motivated, the possibilities are virtually endless. This school excels in giving its students the confidence to succeed later in life. There was always a feeling on campus that Illinois Wesleyan University was destined for great things, and the students felt very much a part of that. I would highly recommend Illinois Wesleyan University to anyone who is interested.
