Since it was founded in 1834, Franklin College has been a leader in liberal arts education. In 1842, Franklin became the first college in Indiana — and only the seventh in the nation—to admit women, and that spirit of inclusiveness still characterizes the college today. Over the past 175 years, Franklin College has remained dedicated to the educational ideals of our namesake — a broad liberal arts curriculum, hands-on learning experiences, and a commitment to ethical leadership at home and abroad.

With a tight-knit student body of 1,023 students and a highly involved faculty, Franklin College offers a wealth of opportunities you might not expect from a small school. With 55 majors in 24 academic disciplines to choose from — plus a location convenient to the businesses and organizations in Indianapolis — Franklin College gives you the chance to excel.

Franklin College is committed to providing an inclusive and welcoming environment and to ensuring that educational and employment decisions are based on individuals’ abilities and qualifications. Consistent with these principles and applicable laws, it is therefore the College’s policy not to discriminate on the basis of age, color, disability, gender, gender expression, gender identity, genetic information, national origin, marital status, race, religion, veteran status as consistent with the Policy on Prohibited Discrimination, Harassment and Related Misconduct. No person, on the basis of protected status, shall be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to unlawful discrimination, harassment, or retaliation under any College program or activity, including with respect to employment terms and conditions. Such a policy ensures that only relevant factors are considered and that equitable and consistent standards of conduct and performance are applied.

Franklin College shall attain excellence as a personal, participatory, values-focused, career-sensitive, liberal arts teaching and learning undergraduate community. The college shall motivate and prepare its graduates for productive and satisfying lives of excellence, leadership and service.

Franklin College has been a transformative experience for my child; with brilliant educators and dedicated staff, the growth in both knowledge and confidence is truly remarkable!

I really enjoyed my time at Franklin College. Even though I didn't quite enjoy the experience in my particular major area of interest, faculty in other departments more than made up for it. I would attend Franklin College every time.
