Harvard is at the forefront of the field of economics in every way. 7 of the top 24 most cited economists in the world are on the staff, and if you want to you can attend lectures by and even speak to any one of them. As a freshman I had a small seminar with a former chair of the council of Economic Advisors to President Bush (the 21st ranked economist in the world by citations), and Harvard advanced intermediate courses (1011a and 1011b) are among the most difficult and advanced in the country for Sophomores. Harvard is candyland for aspiring economists.

Harvard College changed my life. From the first day, I was challenged to think in new and complex ways, take another's perspective, push my intellectual boundaries, explore cultures different from my own, and engage with talented peers. Since graduating, I've found the Harvard brand and network invaluable in my career, but more than that, I still think back to what I learned in and out of the classroom and the thousands of memorable experiences with classmates. I couldn't recommend Harvard more enthusiastically or unequivocally.
And remember, don't let finances get in the way - their financial aid is unbelievable. I never could have afforded college without the generous financial aid package that Harvard offered.

This school really fits my expectations. The courses are challenging and diverse, just as I had expected. The extracurriculars are abundant, good quality, and of great variety, which is really good, especially if you want to try a new activity or were engaging in a rare activity, such as some of the japanese martial arts. At first, I thought the vast majority of the students here were the kind who would brag a lot, but the actually turned out to be down-to-earth and straightforward. This is the best school I have ever been in, and I would recommend this school to anyone who thrives in a competitve enviroment, an excellent college experience, and would want to lead more fulfilling lives.

World Class professors, classmates, resources, and facilities. However, it is easy to get through Harvard taking easy classes and not challenging yourself. It is very easy to get a B+ and difficult to get an A or a C. Harvard College is a liberal arts undergraduate program, meaning there is no business, marketing, communications, accounting, finance major or concentration. There are a diversity of programs and the option for independent or special concentrations if a subject area isn't available. (One noticeably absent undergraduate concentration is Urban Planning or Architecture and this is usually a "special concentration" based on Graduate School of Design classes). The graduate schools are a great resource for undergrads, and you can take classes at many of them as an upperclassman.

Citizens of the World on Campus – Harvard University is able to bring to its campus some of the best students from all over the world. When I returned for the 30th anniversary of the African American Studies Dept and the Gospel Choir, Kumba Singers, I was surprised to see that the choir started when I was there and a member of predominantly black students now had whites, Asians, blacks and every kind of person singing gospel music.

While there are occasional single-incident problems, usually related to social issues rather than direct prejudice or discrimination, Harvard is pretty calm and tolerant of all people from all backgrounds. There's large international student community, and those from the US are from every corner of the country with immensely different backgrounds and circumstances. Over all, a very easy-going environment for any kind of person/background.

It's impossible not to learn a lot at Harvard, with such a wide range of classes taught by professors who are often experts in their field. Obviously, Harvard is known for being a prestigious research university and so the academic education students get here is outstanding. But besides classroom learning, students at Harvard are able to learn an amazing amount from their peers. The student body is economically, socially, and racially diverse, and in addition to this, most students bring unusual interests and experiences to share. Because of this, student interactions inside and outside the classroom bring each individual into contact with ideas that they otherwise would never have encountered. Finally, Harvard's sheer volume of resources, such as the extensive library system, guarantee that no student will go without the ability to learn as much as they possibly can.

As goes without saying (but I’ll say it again anyway), Harvard is great for students who are hard working, dedicated, and self-motivated. Everyone can find a place to fit in here, but all students definitely need to be humble and grounded, and confident in their own abilities. You can’t come to Harvard and expect to be the top-dog in everything, but that doesn’t mean it’s not a possibility. Keep in mind where you are, and don’t lose confidence even if you aren’t doing as well as you did in high school. Generally, students who get into Harvard are used to being the best or near the best in what they do, but that might not be the case when you arrive on this campus. No worries—just never lose faith in yourself and your abilities, and you will be great in this university.

Absolutely phenomenal - Harvard has the money to attract students of all sorts of backgrounds, economic or ethnic, and being with this diverse group of students has really opened my eyes to the different conditions people come from.
