I absolutely love Dartmouth. Faculty, students, and staff are all great; the campus is beautiful; and there are unimaginable resources at your fingertips. What really sets Dartmouth apart, however, is the cohesive campus: we are the smallest Ivy, and it shows. People know each other. When you join Dartmouth, you're not just going to school. You're joining a family.Plus, the food's great!

Dartmouth has a very diverse student body, but at the same time, everyone really does respect everyone else. Technology and nature are embraced to the highest degree.

Courses at Dartmouth are challenging but very doable if you are willing to put the time into your work. Professors are very accessible so you can always see them during their individual office hours. One thing I dont like personally is how much you have to participate. I was never big on participating in class so it was a little uncomfortable for me at first. Students here don't seem to be ambitious or competitive, but they are. You'll see kids going out and getting drunk many nights and they will be the ones pulling off straight A's somehow. It's actually pretty impressive.

The quality of undergrad education at Dartmouth, with the exception of a handful, is unparalleled by other research universities. I have never had any classes taught by TAs and the largest class I've had was around 150 people. Many departments, such as economics, cap the class sizes at 35 or so, so that you always have access to professors during office hours. Econ and gov't are the most popular majors, but you can easily double major (my majors are economics and neuroscience), or you can modify your major, or minor. Classes are tough, but you learn a lot both from the professors and other students. Some students are competitive, particularly in certain majors, but definitely to a lesser degree compared to other top schools. Distributive requirements make sure that you take plenty of classes outside of your major.

After looking at other schools - for graduate work I was surprised at how much more motivated and prepared Dartmouth students were. Classes at other schools were poorly organized and filled with busy-work. Dartmouth is challenging, but gives you the appropriate amount of work to be successful. Esp. in sciences you will find labs closely related to lecture...which is lacking at most universities. I would suggest no other school. Dartmouth is not only amazing for undergraduates, but continues to give guidance after graduation - much more so than some graduate programs do for their current students. Going to Dartmouth gives you an education that will help you accomplish any goal (even those you don't have while an undergrad)

Dartmouth is, hands down, one of the most amazing places to spend four years of your life. It probably sounds cliched to say so, and while the bulk of college students enjoy their experience, there are so many aspects of Dartmouth life that are so incredibly unique that nothing can compare to them -- from the incredible professors, to the vibrant social life, to the amazing surrounding area -- living life in the Dartmouth bubble is like being in a utopia like no other. The College tries incredibly hard to provide a super-high quality of life for its students, and 99% of the time, it succeeds marvelously. It's the rare individual that is not absolutely in love with Dartmouth, and the only complaint that I hear is that it sometimes feels a little isolated. But hey, when you can go skiing, hiking, and canoeing, among other fun things, all within 20 minutes of campus, I can't complain too much....

Dartmouth is amazing. I have taken courses in multiple departments and the profs are there for one thing. YOU. They are there for the students. They love to teach and are thus always there for help, advice and general guidance. Some of my profs answer e-mails at 2 in the morning in the days leading up to the exams. You will get this at no other college in the country.

Dartmouth is such an awesome place. It's welcoming, noncompetitive, and fosters a sincere love of learning. It's a great place to go to college, but college is always going to be what you make of it. The opportunities for academic and personal enrichment here are pretty much limitless, but you've got to reach out and take advantage of them. The opportunities to work and study abroad at Dartmouth a particularly exceptional. The winters are cold but manageable , and the town of Hanover is very New England-ish. The outdoor options (kayaking, biking, climbing, hiking) are boundless.

Bring together an amazingly knowledgeable, accomplished, and caring faculty, a brilliant, unpretentious, and fun-loving student body, a breadth of experiences, interests, and talents, the opportunity to study and perform research around the world, and a supportive, exceedingly beautiful physical and natural college campus, and what do you get? The best undergraduate experience in the world, seriously!
