Founded in 1870 by America's First Family of Inventors — who patented steam ferries and the modern form of railroad track, among many other inventions — technological innovation has remained the hallmark of Stevens’ education and research programs ever since.

Today, within the university’s three schools and one college, 6,600 undergraduate and graduate students collaborate with faculty members in an interdisciplinary, student-centric, entrepreneurial environment. A range of academic and research programming spanning business, computing, engineering, the arts and other fields actively advances the frontiers of science and leverages technology to confront our most pressing global challenges.

Stevens' alumni network, more than 40,000 strong, also continues to make national and global impact while contributing energy, ideas and support to the continued growth and momentum of the university.

A Stevens education is different. Educated by a unique curriculum blending technical training, teamwork, design projects, internships and cooperative education opportunities, Stevens graduates are consistently in high demand by industry leaders and agencies seeking highly prepared, solutions-oriented employees and team members. Stevens graduates also enjoy starting and mid-career salaries that outpace those of graduates of nearly all other U.S. higher educational institutions. Learn more about career services at Stevens.

U.S. News & World Report rankings of higher education institutions have recognized Stevens as one of the nation's top universities since 2011. Stevens has been accreditedby the Middle States Commission on Higher Education since 1927, the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) since 1936, and the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) since 2015.

Stevens is home to three national research centers of excellence as well as interdisciplinary research programs in artificial intelligence and cybersecurity; data science and information systems; complex systems and networks; financial systems and technologies; biomedical engineering, healthcare and life sciences; and resilience and sustainability. We also maintain extensive professional networks and relationships with leading universities, government agencies and industry.

At Stevens, sustainability is not only built into our classrooms and campus. It's built into our curriculum. Stevens has always enjoyed a close relationship with the city of Hoboken. Today, students continue to volunteer considerable time to worthy local causes, and to answer the call during local emergencies. The university also offers a robust program of public events and lectures. And Stevens' very presence is responsible for creating and sustaining thousands of jobs in the region.

Our mission is to inspire, nurture and educate leaders in tomorrow’s technology-centric environment while contributing to the solution of the most challenging problems of our time.

Stevens will become a premier student-centric technological research university, focusing on six “foundational pillars,” areas of true societal need where Stevens possesses significant depth and expertise: artificial intelligence, machine learning, and cybersecurity; data science and information systems; complex systems and networks; financial systems and technologies; biomedical engineering, healthcare, and life sciences; and resilience and sustainability. As our education and research capacity grows in these areas, so will our influence.

The exceptional educational experience here has transformed my child's confidence, with faculty that genuinely care and inspire growth every step of the way.

I was a student here for 5 years and loved every minute of it. If you are considering a degree in math and sciences, particularly engineering, Stevens should be on your list. (Liberal Arts majors aren't the focus) The location is perfect. Hoboken provides lots of venues to explore and NYC is one subway ride away. On campus there is a full set of facilities including a workout gym, pool, tennis courts, and cafes. Avoid bringing your car if you can - Hoboken is not car friendly. That being said both Stevens and Hoboken have shuttle and bus services respectively. If you're looking for a Masters degree the WebCampus program is very popular amongst the workforce, particularly systems engineering. Stevens also performs very well in terms of placement for graduating seniors. This is definitely a school you should check out.
