The mission of the Ohio University - Chillicothe campus is to provide educational and cultural opportunities for all Ohioans in the South - Central Ohio geographical region. Courses offered on the OUC campus provides students with a solid educational foundation and college experience that allows them to successfully relocate to the main Ohio University Athens Campus or transfer to another 4 year institution of higher learning to finish their degree. In addition, OUC offers academic programs resulting in associates or baccalaureate degrees in disciplines which align with employment opportunities in its service region.

Ohio University - Chillicothe will continue to offer educational opportunities and a quality college experience to students in its service region which will prepare them to successfully relocate to the Athens campus or transfer to another 4 year institution to finish their degree. OUC will also continue its mission to offer quality associates and baccalaureate degrees in disciplines which align with student demand and employment opportunities in the South Central Ohio region. The Chillicothe campus will maintain flexibility in these degree offerings in order to respond to changes in student interest and employment needs within its service region. Finally, OUC will continue to share its resources and provide cultural opportunities to the Chillicothe Community towards the goal of enhancing the quality of life and economic development in its service region.

The campus enrolls more than 2,300 students and offers more than 20 academic programs, including those leading to associate, bachelor and master’s degrees.

OUC’s Office of Continuing Education and Workforce Development offers a range of workshops, courses, and training opportunities. From children to seniors, from teachers to accounts, and from city officials to first responders, OUC can meet the needs of your workforce.

At Ohio University - Chillicothe, we believe in giving students the opportunity to participate both in the classroom and out of the classroom. Opportunities such as joining or starting a student organization, exercising at the Health and Wellness Center, participating on an athletic team, or attending a campus event or activity are regularly available to OUC Students.

In 1962, Chillicothe found a solution to the greatest challenge it had faced during the establishment of the regional campus: the construction of a campus. To prove to Ohio's General Assembly the area was prepared to support this ambitious initiative, a $200,000 fund drive was launched to cover the payments on the land.

The efforts were successful, and in 1966 Bennett Hall, named after Chillicothe's prominent Bennett family, became the central building of the Ohio University's Chillicothe Campus. Classes were first offered in the hall on September 19, 1966, 20 years and three days after OUC's first night classes took place at Chillicothe High School.

Today the building serves as the central location of all student activity. It houses faculty and administrative offices, classrooms, and the campus auditorium. A teaching laboratory and mock nursing lab are also located in Bennett Hall. In 2009 a summer renovation project added a parkway, plaza as well as other major renovations which revitalized the face of campus.
