Some private schools in Dubai on Thursday said they have received their outcomes under the first-ever Distance Learning Evaluation (DLE), introduced by UAE education authorities to judge the online provision of schools.
DLE was first announced in March when schools closed because of the coronavirus pandemic.
It is a joint initiative between Sharjah Private Education Authority (SPEA), Dubai’s Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA), Ministry of Education, and Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK).
School leaders told Khaleej Times institutes are being rated as ‘Developed’, ‘Not Developed’ and ‘Partially Developed’.
They have been evaluated on 13 criteria for areas like teaching, learning, assessment procedures, overall leadership, contingency and resource criteria under the Distance Learning Evaluation (DLE), introduced by UAE education authorities to judge the online provision of schools.
When JSS Private School Principal Chitra Sharma was enquired about School Remote Learning Programme, she said, “the success of the programme was due to the amalgamation of careful planning by our dedicated faculty, apposite student motivation and engagement, and strong parent support for this alternative mode of instruction. School leadership with their revolutionary vision fronted the evolution from regular schooling to e-learning and the school management backed us with apt resources to successfully implement the programme.”
For schools to be rated as ‘Developed’, 9 out of the 13 parameters should be green. Subsequently, yellow stands for ‘Not Developed’ and Red indicates ‘Partially Developed’.
Another school in Dubai explained, “Schools in Dubai have been receiving these reports since the past couple of days. In case schools have any objection, they can get in touch with the KHDA. We will declare our rating after all Dubai schools have received their DLE reports which would be next week”, said Dr Brian Gray, Principal Springdales Schools.
Last week, schools in Sharjah received their first DLE ratings.
