When the Brothers of the Christian Schools founded La Salle College in 1863, they looked to their founder and the universal patron saint of educators, for inspiration and guidance. Beginning with this act of faith, La Salle became the first institution of higher education in the world to bear the name of St. John Baptist de La Salle. Even as La Salle has grown into a university to meet the changing needs of our students and our times, our Lasallian Catholic heritage remains a constant, nurturing our institution into a community rooted in the Catholic intellectual and social teaching traditions. These traditions inspire us to integrate scholarship from across the various academic fields in an effort to understand the world around us in ways that bring people closer in relationship to the transcendent.

Today, La Salle University remains committed to the values of the Gospel and the founding story and vision of St. La Salle. Those values remain integral to how we understand our Catholic identity and informs us in how we continue our Lasallian educational mission.

La Salle is a Lasallian Catholic university committed to the principle that all knowledge is practical and empowering, filled with the capacity to transform lives. Anchored in the living tradition of the Brothers of the Christian Schools and in association with a diverse and inclusive learning community, our mission is to educate the whole person by fostering a rigorous free search for truth. La Salle, in affirming the value of both liberal arts and professional studies, prepares students for the lifelong pursuit and exploration of wisdom, knowledge, and faith that lead to engaged and fulfilling lives marked by a commitment to the common good.

Since 1863, La Salle University, a Lasallian Catholic University, has educated students of great promise from all faiths, and all walks of life in the traditions of the Brothers of the Christian Schools. As following scholars of Saint John Baptist de La Salle, we meet students where they are, and encourage, support, and challenge them to achieve beyond what their most ambitious dreams thought possible. Our rigorous, holistic education, steeped in the liberal arts and sciences and delivered by highly engaged faculty and staff, leads to lives of professional and personal success, and advancing the common good.

Throughout our 154 years, our Lasallian values, Catholic mission, quality education, and student-centered experience have never changed, and will never change. Yet what employers seek in graduates has changed dramatically, and so has the cost of a college degree. As a result, families and students seek an education with greater identifiable value. They understandably place an emphasis on job placement and career outcomes as they prepare for a rapidly evolving workplace and jobs that don’t yet exist.

La Salle has taken bold steps to support them.In fall 2017, our tuition was reset to 2008 levels to make a La Salle education—one already recognized nationally for its value—more affordable. And in fall 2018, incoming students will experience a re-envisioned core curriculum and master 12 institutional learning outcomes that exceed what the accreditation agencies require. We are confident this potent combination will produce graduates who are creative, agile, resilient and ethically-centered. Graduates who are uniquely prepared to excel and change the world for the better of all—no matter what the day may bring, or where adventure leads them.

The La Salle education you will receive outside the classroom is just as important as the education you will receive inside the classroom. Some of the most impactful lessons you’ll learn will happen among friends, at unplanned hours, in places that you least expect. With more than 120 clubs and organizations, there is an experience for everyone. You’ll find groups centered on common interests or lifestyles, academics, Greek life, and sports, as well at community service.Discover where your passions lie, and make your time at La Salle more fun, more meaningful, more insightful, and just plain more. If a club or activity you’re seeking doesn’t exist, create it. After all, part of exploration is invention.

At La Salle, we are Explorers—a community shaped by the Lasallian values of intellectual and spiritual development, service, and respect for others. La Salle’s dedication to the transformation of the whole person is amplified in our Honors Program.

Our distinctive curriculum features our unique Honors Triple program, considered by many as a national model. With unbeatable individual attention, invaluable mentors, and an intentional cohort environment in which curiosity thrives, questions are answered, and lifelong friendships are formed, you’ll receive the freedom to customize your education to your strengths and blaze your own path forward.

You will reflect the best of La Salle, but also benefit from the best of what La Salle offers: a top-notch education that transforms students not just into leaders, but into Explorers. The time has come to define your success and shine brighter than ever before.

Our dedicated transfer team will be with you through each step of the transfer process. We have worked hard to ensure that your transfer experience is a positive one that makes the most out of the credits you’ve earned and shows you that La Salle is an affordable option offering generous scholarships and financial aid.

Please don't take your children to this catholic racist and profit making rip off so called Catholic La Sallian University. What a waste of time!!! I am warning you right now. I was an honor student for the past few years but life almost came to an end careerwise due to jealous, insecure and unthecal professors in the nursing department which is about to lose its accreditation. If you love yourself, don't go to this school because of scholarship money offers which the school uses to attract students. If you are a minority in the school, you don't exist and they don't care about your career. They use minority students just so they can qualify for federal funding. Be warned, don't risk your life and/or waste your time. The corruption at La Salle University is high up the chain of command. Not a good school. Can you imagine they still practice segregation? They put black and all minority students on the bottom floor and white students on top floors in good dormitories. They wanted me to live in a smoking area because they didn't want me to live in a nice and clean apartment. They hated me because I was smart, talked sense, married, secure, confident and ethical thinker. This school should be ashamed of their unethical behavior and institutionalized racism, but they are not. There is Institutional racism at this university. They ignore students complaints all the time. This is a school where you really see prejudice, discrimination and racism. Strange enough, this is supposed to be a Christian school. Not the case. Go there if you are desperate for scholarship money but don't go here if you want a school to be proud of. I decided to go here last minute but what happened to me is horrible. I ended up hiring a lawyer, and I am taking this school to court. Soon you will see another PENN State. The government must create a very strong oversight committee to inspect universities and see to it that these corrupt racist schools are brought to justice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I regret going here, and I curse the day I made that decision. I could not register for my final senior semester because of their irresponsible advisors. Can you imagine the housing department had to bring three head of security officers to evict me because I was not registered for the semester?

I graduated from LaSalle in 1999 and the university will always have a special place in my heart. Though it is not found in the nicest part of Philadelphia it is filled with the most wonderful people.
