Within the cultural and academic soil of liberal arts higher education, Bob Jones University exists to grow Christlike character that is scripturally disciplined, others-serving, God-loving, Christ-proclaiming and focused above.

We believe in the inspiration of the Bible (both the Old and the New Testaments); the creation of man by the direct act of God; the incarnation and virgin birth of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ; His identification as the Son of God; His vicarious atonement for the sins of mankind by the shedding of His blood on the cross; the resurrection of His body from the tomb; His power to save men from sin; the new birth through the regeneration by the Holy Spirit; and the gift of eternal life by the grace of God.

At BJU you’ll find faith and worship woven into every part of your student experience. You’ll learn how everything—from learning about ecosystems in biology to singing in Thanksgiving prayer services—points to God and His worthiness of all praise.

Your admission process to BJU can begin as early as the end of your high school junior year. Admission to one of BJU’s graduate programs should begin within 6 months of your planned enrollment. Students of any race, color, age, sex, national origin, protected disability or veteran status are admitted to all the rights, privileges, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at Bob Jones University. The University does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, age, sex, national origin, protected disability or veteran status in its administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship and loan programs, and athletic and other school-administered programs.

At BJU you’ll be prepared. Prepared for your career—but more importantly, for your calling as a Christian. And that’s to glorify God with your life, no matter what job you have or where you live.

At BJU we believe in tackling these big questions head on. And we find the answers in God’s revelation to us through His Word and His creation. By viewing our lives and the world around us through the lens of those answers, we develop a biblical worldview—the foundation for everything we do here at BJU.

Our liberal arts courses, ranging from history to speech to science to the arts, give you an amazing glimpse into God’s character and the world He created—and help you connect with people you meet in different fields. But even more important than the knowledge you’ll gain are the skills you’ll develop—skills employers look for like critical thinking, creative problem-solving and clear communication.

The Bible courses you take will deepen your understanding of God’s Word and its application to real-life issues. You’ll learn how to discern truth and error, and you’ll be prepared to reach out to others with the truth.
Most of all, experiencing God through His Word is the best way to grow in your love for Him and to get excited about the work He’s doing around the world.

Fine arts has always been a central part of a BJU education—the perfect complement to the academic breadth you’ll get through your liberal arts courses. No matter where you end up in life, as a Christian you’re called to be a humble servant-leader. At BJU you’ll grow through opportunities for both leadership and service.

No matter what program you’re in, you’ll be challenged by doing class projects on your own and in collaboration with others. You’ll be encouraged to pursue internship opportunities, attend conferences, enter competitions, go on summer mission teams—whatever it is that will help you put into practice what you’ve learned and clarify your direction for the future.

Bob Jones University was established in 1927 by evangelist Bob Jones Sr.Throughout his travels, Dr. Bob Jones Sr. saw students whose faith was shaken during college, and he recognized the need for a thoroughly Christian college that stood on the absolute authority of the Bible to train America’s youth. His vision was to establish a training center for Christians from around the world that would be distinguished by its academic excellence, refined standards of behavior, and opportunities to appreciate the performing and visual arts. At the same time, Dr. Jones’ intent was to make a place where Christ would be the center of all thought and conduct.

At the outset of the second decade of the new millennium, BJU introduced a new tagline: Build Faith. Challenge Potential. Follow Christ. Guided by this fresh expression of its unchanging mission, the University entered a time of renewed focus on fulfilling its purpose in Christian higher education.

In 2011, BJU announced its return to intercollegiate athletics and the following year introduced the University’s new mascot: the Bruin. In August 2013, BJU introduced a new collegiate visual identity. Due to health issues, Dr. Stephen Jones resigned as president of BJU in May of 2014, and Steve Pettit was elected as the new president.

The common thread that runs throughout the history of Bob Jones University is love for and faithfulness to God and His Word. With eyes fixed on Jesus Christ, the University presses forward into the new decade with hopeful expectation that God will continue to use BJU to glorify His name and bless His people all across the world.

This University has transformed my child's educational journey; the dedicated faculty genuinely cares about student success, and the remarkable progress is truly inspiring.

Coming to Bob Jones U. was God's will for me. I learned many valuable lessons with a submissive heart to authority.A life dedicated to doing God's will and submissive to those He has put over me goes very well--not always easy, but well. These were some of the best years of my life.

I would not trade my time at BJU for anything. There is a high standard of academics that produces very well-trained grads. I went on to work at an Ivy-League university, and got the jobs I wanted, due to my education there. Faculty are highly qualified, though probably underpaid. One of the last few conservative Christian universities out there.

I would highly recommend this University, if you go into it understanding that is conservative and Christian. So are the rules, which you must read and sign that you agree to abide by before admittance. The campus is very safe, since there is a security force at all times. Also, many grads have gone to Ivy League schools and have been well-prepared. It is a great education for the cost. TRACS accreditation is as valid as any--many Christian colleges use/have used it.

I loved BJU! The majority of the teachers were caring and helpful. The academic standards were high. Although many people have complained about the rules, I am thankful for the protection and character building opportunities that they provided. Some of my friends went to other colleges and dealt with awful things that were not even issues at BJU because of the high standards that BJU sets. If you aren't serious about studies, you just want to party, and you can't handle being responsible or respectful, BJU is not for you. But if you are looking for a place to learn, grow in Christ, and build character, BJU is the best place for you!

I could have gone elsewhere for nursing school, but I chose BJU because of their Christian standards. I met friends and aquaintences with similar beliefs and have had instant connections in the various places I've lived. My own children are getting ready to look at colleges, and I am encouraging them to consider BJU. Whatever degree or future they have, their relationship with God is primary and therefore college choice is greatly impacted by that priority.

My degree from B.J.U. has gotten me interviews/positions that someone without the same degree would not have received. High standards are expected from B.J.U. graduates. I am grateful and proud to be a graduate.

I am a senior international Biblical Counseling major. I honestly believe that BJU tries it's very best as a whole to develop the whole person, spiritually first and then academically. I would choose to attend BJU all over again if given the chance and enjoy the time I have spent in the dorms enrolled as a full-time student.

I thought the overall program stretched me and provided me with a good liberal arts education and management degree. The faculty was generally very caring and had a passion for teaching and their material. Upon graduation, I had no problem getting into graduate school and I was pleased with how well I was prepared relative to my graduate school peers.
