At Schreiner University, students enter with hope and leave with achievement. We are a diverse, fiercely independent university. We are affiliated by choice and covenant with the Presbyterian Church (USA) with a main campus in the Texas Hill Country and first year campuses throughout the state.

Schreiner University is a place of opportunity. We offer undergraduate and graduate students a personalized, integrated, and holistic educational experience that prepares them for meaningful work and purposeful lives in a changing global society. Students study in-depth in a specific area of interest while acquiring broad skills and habits of mind to navigate a complex, diverse, and unscripted future.

At Schreiner University, we strive to create a learning community that that is welcoming and supportive of diverse people and perspectives. The Standing Diversity Committee aims to prepare students for successful work and life experiences in a global community after graduation.

Schreiner University is proud to be a Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI), which is defined as an institution of higher education that currently has an enrollment of at least 25 percent Hispanic undergraduate students.

Schreiner University prepares students for meaningful work and a purposeful life in a changing global society through personalized, integrated education in a rich learning environment. It’s all part of The Schreiner Experience, which starts the first day on campus when all required course materials are ready for them—at no additional cost.

Our enhanced learning opportunities include degree plans based on specific career goals; small classes and access to professors; faculty-guided undergraduate research; directed internship experiences and study abroad; service learning projects with your peers; and living and learning communities built on common interests.

A Schreiner education brings together people from diverse backgrounds and experiences, who gain not only a richer understanding of the world and how it works, but a deeper sense of their own place in it. In addition to variety in racial, economic and familial educational backgrounds, Schreiner students are offered opportunities early to help them identify their career interests so that they’ll be able to complete their degree plans on time. Some will even choose to take advantage of Schreiner’s 3-year degree option.

Schreiner University is uniquely welcoming, appealing to students from all backgrounds. We have generous financial aid and counselors that actually meet with students and families to help them through the process. When you ask students what they like most about Schreiner, they always mention that they like the small, personal atmosphere and the small class sizes. Schreiner University is a small university and we like it that way. With approximately 1,000 students on campus and a 13:1 student to faculty ratio, students get the attention they deserve.

Schreiner professors take a special interest in students' needs and learning styles. It's also important to mention that while other universities employ graduate students and Teaching Assistants (TA's) to teach their classes, at Schreiner all of our classes are taught by actual professors, most of whom hold the highest degrees in their field. So, while your peers at larger universities will never even meet their professors, at Schreiner you'll know yours by their first names.

Schreiner may be small in size, but you'll receive a big education. Schreiner offers 42 majors and programs, and graduates in our pre-professional majors like pre-law, pre-med, pre-veterinary and pre-dentistry have over a 95% acceptance rate into prestigious graduate-level programs in their area of study.

Our Financial Aid office is dedicated to making a Schreiner education affordable for any student. Although Schreiner is a private Texas university, the actual difference in tuition and fees between Schreiner University and the average major public school in Texas is only $1950. We'll work with you to find the money for college that you need. Financial aid at Schreiner University begins with our institutional merit scholarship. Every full-time undergraduate freshman receives a merit scholarship upon acceptance. The amount of this scholarship is determined by the student’s all-round high school performance.

First-year students at Schreiner never feel left out or alone. Before the school year even begins, freshmen bond during Mountaineer Days and Welcome Week. During these orientation days, students attend seminars where they learn about themselves and others.

Schreiner University is nestled in the midst of the beautiful Texas hill country, which provides an excellent backdrop for the 170-acre campusfacility. At Schreiner, white-tailed deer roam the campus, professors often teach under the shade trees by the river and a host of outdoor activities await outdoor adventurers.

Kerrville is a resort town of approximately 20,425 residents. It's large enough to provide the conveniences of nearby shopping centers, theatres, cultural art museums and popular restaurants in a safe, relaxed setting. San Antonio, the ninth largest city in the US, is less than an hour's drive away, and Austin is only an hour-and-a-half away.

Schreiner has campus activities, sports and a supportive local community that's compelling. Why not see it for yourself. Schedule a campus visit with your admission counselor and plan to stay in Kerrville to experience the local flavor.

The mission statement of Schreiner University affirms the college’s long-standing commitment to serve a diverse community. Included in this commitment are ongoing efforts to make the learning resources of the university accessible to students with disabilities.
