The first step in the financial aid process is filing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid to be considered for all types of aid.

We offer our students many forms of financial aid, including federal, state, and private scholarships and grants, campus employment, and student loans. We’re here to assist you through the entire financial aid process by keeping you informed of important deadlines and answering any questions you may have as you complete your college search.

Our awesome, student-led outdoor orientation (OO) trips are designed to introduce you to other students while exposing you to life in northern Wisconsin. Trips include everything from backcountry expeditions to urban explorations. Have some fun looking over your trip options.

New student orientation is for all first-year and transfer students. In addition to your OO trip, there is a one-day on-campus orientation. First-year students are required to participate in both. Transfer students (those arriving with more than 24 credits) are required to participate in either the one-day on-campus orientation or take an orientation trip designed specifically for transfer students.

The North Wisconsin Academy was founded in 1892 with a declaration to provide educational opportunities to people of the north woods—including immigrants, women, and Native Americans. The Academy later became Northland College and our commitment to that original idea has never wavered. Northland was one of the first institutions of higher learning to offer a major in Native American studies and have hosted a spring powwow every year since 1974.

Founded in 1892, Northland College is located at the top of Wisconsin, on the south shore of Lake Superior. Adjacent to the Apostle Islands and nearly a million acres of national forest, Northland has an unparalleled living laboratory and natural playground just beyond our doors.
