Windows & Linux Systems Administrator

Job Description

• Windows Specialist with Linux exposure to join our global team of highly skilled system administrators in our rapidly expanding Dubai office.
• To be eligible for this role you must be skilled in Windows Server administration including IIS, Active Directory and Microsoft Exchange. Experience with Microsoft Unified Communication server would be beneficial.
• Company is predominantly Linux based operation so some hands-on Linux experience is essential for this role.
• You WILL be working on Linux in this role, at least some of the time, but your focus will be as the primary Windows Specialist.

Responsibilities

• Monitoring, administration and maintenance of multiple systems
• Resolving customer issues
• Troubleshooting and resolving software errors and hardware faults
• Researching, evaluating new equipment & systems
• Network management and maintenance. E.g. switching, VLANs, routing
• Windows and Linux Server Administration
• After hours shared response to faults on call
• General Documentation

Required Skills

• EXCELLENT – Windows server administration skills and strong linux administration skills
• Microsoft Active Directory: clustering, administration, maintenance
• Understanding of networking and protocols
• High Availability/Load Balanced concepts
• Web/Mail servers: Apache+IIS, Exim, Qmail
• Firewall technologies and concepts
• Strong time management skills
• Ability to work within a globally distributed team
• Ability to prioritize and work on multiple tasks
• Excellent written and verbal skills

Beneficial Skills

• Experience in a web/application/domain hosting or cloud services environment
• Scripting: PowerShell or at least one of PHP, SQL, bash/shell or Perl
• SAN storage knowledge/experience (iscsi/NFS/CIFS)
• Dell hardware configuration and management
• VMWare ESX/ESXi/vSphere
• Virtuozzo/openvz
• You must have good communication skills and a sense of humour is huge plus.
• Qualifications/certificates in relevant areas may work in your favour, but aren’t essential.
