Welcome to Dukhan English School. DES provides a dynamic learning environment led by our passionate and committed teaching staff. DES is the true definition of a community school. The school embraces families and students from many different nations.
Our diverse community enhances the learning environment bringing a richness of experience and ideas. The school's diversity and inclusion encourages more divergent thinking, creating an international mindset that builds respect for others. Our students are inspired to recognise and value their different histories and talents, as well as those of other people and cultures.
Our long-term aim is to serve our unique community by providing the best possible education for our students. DES boldly pursues the finest leaders, teachers and resources to serve the community.
Schools of the past existed in a different world; predictable and constant. We now look forward to an uncertain future. DES provides the knowledge, skills and understanding for students to thrive in an ever-changing world. Education should inspire us to become better people, to empower others and to create change to improve society and our planet. We continue to work collaboratively with our community building understanding and trust, that inspires each student to create a more peaceful and sustainable future.
Dukhan English School is one of the oldest English medium schools in Qatar. It traces its origins back to the early 1950s when British Petroleum, the operators of the Dukhan Field at that time, established a school in the building which was later the Dukhan Water Sports clubhouse.
Our vision is for our students to be high achieving, healthy and happy individuals, well prepared to take their place as global citizens and leaders of the future.
Our Mission is to achieve this by inspirational teaching that places high value on learning, enjoyment, and the well-being of all our students.
Dukhan English School is a community which is an exciting, welcoming place to work and live. Our teachers are dedicated, talented, caring and our greatest strength. They aspire to make a life-changing difference to their students' academic, co-curricular, and social development.
We have a proud history of continuous improvement, are deeply committed to staff professional learning and fostering personal development within the school. DES promotes and supports professional growth that enhances lifelong learning for all. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of our students and expect all staff to share this commitment. As part of this please be aware that we will conduct thorough background checks on all successful applicants. We pride ourselves on our positive school culture. This results in a warm purposeful ethos and a place where everyone looks forward to coming to school each day. We are looking for dynamic and dedicated staff to join our team.

Thank you once again for doing your part to keep Edarabia the most trusted education source.
The staff are dedicated and flexible. The faculty works hard to maintain high standards and integrate the constant flow of students in and out of the school. They have been so welcoming, and the family atmosphere makes this school a wonderful place for children to learn and grow.

I left my post at this school following a 2 year contract. I have taught all over the world in a number of schools and can honestly say this is the most badly managed education organisation I have ever had the misfortune to be part of. Staff are treated appalling, particularly in the primary school where the workload is horrific. There is no professional platform to voice an opinion and those who bravely do don’t last long. The principal never ventures out the office and knows few students and even fewer staff, she hides behind the corporate face of QP taking no responsibility for her actions. The head of primary is a complete narcissist and the head of secondary a shallow, female loathing individual with no leadership qualities whatsoever, her drive to improve standards is to repeatedly ask for seating plans and that’s about it. The bursar lies about everything so trying to get settled in a post her is a challenge and a half. I left because I did not want to invest in a second rate education for my kids.
It’s a sad outlook, Dukhan is a wonderful place to live, the kids are great kids to teach but you will be fed a pack of lies at interview and enter a parallel world of poor educational experiences which have to be seen to be believed. If you value your welfare steer clear of this toxic zone.

I am currently working at DES, it is without a doubt the most repressive school I have ever worked at, the SLT are rude,if your face does not fit or you question any decisions made by them, your days are numbered and you are ostracized. There is a blatant disregard for staff, their well being, the way they are treated and the way objectives are initiated, usually on a whim, there is NOT a work life balance, the SLT think because they are in unscruitabke seats of power they can do/ say what they want. I have spent most half terms in school planning, instead of actually being on 'holiday'. You are constantly being observed, at least every 6 weeks and to what point?, to be told you are a mediocre teacher. If you say you can't cope with the workload it is thrown back at you by SLT who say you are well paid!....paid to do a job not kill yourself!. The children are brilliant, always willing to learn.it is a shame the management of the school has not realised that 50 staff leaving over a 2 yr period was due to their misconduct and treatment of staff.Thiswas and still is a failing school due to the ineptitude of the SLT. I love my job and have taught all over the world as well as 10 years in the UK but to be told in mediocre has me now looking for other posts, would I recommend this school to anyone?, sadly, NO.

Dukhan English School is a great school. The staff is wonderful, and they really focus on the children and family. Our son is attending their transitional class, and we can tell he is learning a lot. We are confident about his education. We highly recommend Dukhan English School.
