Fine Arts Teacher

Job Summary

Our school is seeking to appoint a Fine Arts Teacher with teaching experience in the areas of drawing, painting, photography and digital media.

Responsibilities

• Ensure full implementation of the school curriculum
• Create a positive, stimulating and innovative environment for learning
• Maintain a well organised classroom with appropriate displays, resource areas and materials
• Plan and implement a program to meet the needs of all pupils in the class and develop personal and social aspects of learning
• Monitor and report the quality of pupil attainment to the governing body
• Assist in the selection of resources for the curriculum
• Share ideas, new initiatives and identify new ways of teaching the curriculum
• Teach knowledge and skills in art, including drawing, painting, lettering and art history
• Understand the versatility of acrylic paints, dry brushing, staining, layering, underpainting and other techniques
• Giving every child the opportunity to reach their potential
• Review and evaluate one’s own teaching and learning strategies, methodologies and programme/s in line with the curriculum framework guidelines
• Advise and cooperate with the Head of Department, Head of Academics and Vice Principle and other teachers in the preparation and development of courses of study, teaching materials, teaching programmes, methods of teaching, lesson planning and assessment
• Ensure high standards of professional practice and quality of teaching and learning of the subject/s
• Participate in staff development and training courses
• Maintain proper classroom management and safeguard their health and safety all times
• Register and monitor the attendance of students under one’s care
• Nurture a culture where teachers view themselves essentially as facilitators of learning and reflective practitioners

Required Skills

• Bachelor of Education in Fine Arts/Visual Arts or a Bachelor Degree in Fine Arts/Visual Arts
• 2 – years experience as a teacher
• Ability to teach life drawing and painting to a high standard
• Ability to teach analytical/critical approach
• Creates a sense of community and belonging in the classroom
