Lab Technician - Medical Teaching Laboratories

Job Summary

Provides support and assists staff members and faculties in teaching laboratories of anatomy, biochemistry, physiology, microbiology and pathology departments.

Undertakes general Laboratory duties such as cleaning, sorting, re-arranging of glassware, chemicals / consumables, cleaning and sterilizing of surgical instruments.

Responsibilities

• Assists senior technicians in reagent preparations and various equipment settings in laboratory experiments.
• Provides support to Technicians involving a variety of Teaching laboratory experiments.
• Cleaning and maintenance of students Microscopes, rearranging of Microscope slides between practical sessions.
• Assist in the maintenance of laboratory specimens, organs, slides, models, equipment supply and glassware.
• Proper disposal of hazardous and non hazardous materials in accordance with safety protocols.
• Day to day Maintenance of the distill water unit, dishwasher and icemaker.
• Taking care of organs and specimens in museum.
• Transferring animals from the animal house and maintaining for future practicals.
• Assists in maintaining and organizing laboratory supplies and in monitoring inventory levels.
• Preforms other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor, technicians and faculties.
• Communicates effectively with all members involving teaching laboratories affairs.

Required Skills

• B.Sc. or Higher Diploma
• 1-3 years relevant experience
• Ability to handle laboratory work for different biomedical disciplines
• Good English communication and computer skills
• Reliable, punctual, well organized personality
