Anglo-Chinese School (ACS) was founded by Methodist Bishop William Fitzjames Oldham in 1886 with the purpose of nurturing students to be of service “for God and Humanity”. In January 1988, ACS became among the first schools to turn independent as part of the Ministry of Education’s initiative to diversify the national education landscape[1] and subsequently the school was renamed ACS (Independent).

A Methodist institution, ACS (Independent) has a strong foundation in spiritual values, a tradition of excellence and a global perspective. It was authorised an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School in 2005 and is the pioneer national school to offer the IB Diploma Programme. Today the school offers two academic tracks:

  • The four-year Express programme leading to the GCE “O” Levels Examination, and
  • The six-year Integrated Programme (IP) leading to the IB Diploma programme.

The IP allows students to progress from secondary to pre-university education without the requirement to sit the GCE ‘O’ Level Examinations. The core purpose of our school remains to nurture ACSians to be catalysts for change with Godly values and robust character, equipped and willing to serve and lead in the family, nation and the global community. Our mission is to be a world-class institution, a beacon of truth and light, through the holistic development of our students.

Our Values are Steadfastness, Humility, Integrity, Empathy, Loyalty and Diligence (SHIELD). Our ideal is Christlikeness, and we are inspired by the values espoused from the life and teachings of Christ.

The purpose of a shield is to guard and protect. We believe that living by our school values – represented by the acronym – SHIELD – will serve to guide and guard ACSians in their relationships, judgment and decision-making as they navigate through the complexities of life.

ACS (Independent) is a Methodist institution with a strong foundation in Christian values and principles and offers a number of programmes, catering to the many interests and talents of our students. These include the Express Programme leading to the GCE ‘O’ levels certificate and the six year Integrated Programme leading to the IB Diploma. No matter which programme, students go through an enriching and fulfilling curriculum which helps them be skilled and self-motivated in their quest for knowledge and develop qualities that will enable them to navigate in an increasingly demanding and complex world.

Our wide range of co-curricular activities enables students to develop their talent, leadership skills and pursue their passions. Beyond the classroom, ACSians participate in a myriad of activities ranging from contributing services to welfare homes/organisations, charity fund raising activities and environmental conservation efforts.

Spent four years of my formative schooling years here at ACS(I) more than 2 decades ago, and continue to visit as an alumnus including being invited back yesterday. The education offered is holistic, their teachers and staff very encouraging, its facilities excellent including their option for boarding school, and accessible by public transport with many bus services available at the bus stop just outside. Memories forged here literally last a lifetime, and I am so grateful to have walked these hallways as an ACSian. Their vision rings in my head decades on: “Evert ACSian a Scholar, Officer, and Gentleman”. The Best Is Yet To Be!

Anglo Chinese School (Independent) is a school for the best only. It is dynamic in terms of everything. Every year, in sports, they get a grand slam for cricket, tennis, rugby, swimming and bowling. In terms of non-sporting CCAs, they are world champions in debate, Model United Nation(MUN) and Robotics

ACSI provides students with a world class International Bacleurrette program. Unlike other schools and educations, ACSI focuses on a more holistic approach to education, emphasising on Co-Curicular activities. The most important part is the atmosphere, where one feels invited and truly at home.

The Best Is Yet To Be. Holistic approach to education, with equal emphasis on academics, sports, and personal growth and development, coupled with great teachers and facilities.
