Beths Grammar School offers an exciting, purposeful, vibrant and thriving community that challenges and supports students in fulfilling their academic potential whilst allowing them to smile and feel a degree of control over proceedings. Our development of the ‘whole student’ is a belief that we at Beths completely buy into.

We are a selective school in name but we are so much more in what we are able offer our students. Our primary focus is on academic achievement and our goal is to create a generation of leaders and develop well-rounded individuals who can perform at the height of their ambition.

We aim to create young adults who are forward thinking, confident, motivated, competitive and highly successful who understand the purpose of becoming an independent learner and strive to become self-directed and comfortable with the unknown.

Beths is renowned for its strength in Mathematics, Technology and the Sciences. Our specialist facilities give students a rich experience in purpose built laboratories where they can explore the depths of Biology, Chemistry and Physics, in high-spec workshops where they can practically engage in Electronics, Food, Graphics and Product Design and of state-of-the-art Computer rooms where they can create programs and learn to code.

As part of our Languages Specialism, the school offers our students the choice to learn French, Mandarin Chinese or Spanish from Year 7 with the opportunity to choose a second Foreign Language from Year 8 which additionally includes German, Italian and Latin.

Sport has always played an important part in the life of Beths students, both on an individual and team basis. Our students have numerous opportunities to gain new sporting experiences both within and outside the curriculum. We have seen our students become area, county and national champions in their chosen sports – we are currently national champions in two team sports - and we have a number of individuals who are currently attending prestigious footballing, rugby and cricketing academies. The dedication of both students and staff is a testament to the on-going success that Beths continues to experience.

With such opportunities at their disposal and a picturesque setting, Beths has so much to offer. We believe there is truly something for everyone here.

Beths will:

  • Enable every student to maximise academic potential and develop their individual talents
  • Provide education with character, embracing a wide range of enrichment activities
  • Provide a stimulating, caring and secure environment, building on traditional values and standards
  • Challenge students to acquire individual responsibility, respecting the values and beliefs of others while developing their own
  • Create a culture which reflects our technologically advanced era and embraces innovation
  • Work with a wide range of partners to ensure our young people are able to take full advantage of the lifetime opportunities open to them
  • Create a generation of leaders and develop well rounded individuals able to perform to the best of their abilities and progress towards the height of their ambition.

At Beths you will find an ethos in which working hard and wanting to achieve are the norm. We are ambitious for the young people in our care and seek to help them to secure the very best outcomes of which they are capable. But Beths is also a supportive, harmonious and caring environment. We respect and celebrate the diversity that exists among our students and staff. The school is renowned for its enviable co-curricular enrichment programme that, through sport, the arts and music, clubs and societies, nurtures the whole person.

Our ambition is to:

  • Provide a first class education to all students, delivering outstanding academic and personal achievement.
  • Foster a physical and cultural environment that reflects a modern and intelligent approach to learning, is inclusive of every student and positively considers the well-being and mental health of all as a priority.
  • Be a collaborative school, which is at the heart of the community and builds relationships.
  • Encourage improvement by continuously evaluating what we do and by embracing best practice.

This school helped my son, who was bullied at primary school and home-schooled for the duration of year six, transform from a nervous school boy to a hard-working young mab who grew - and is continuing to grow - in confidence now that he is at university. Good direction shown by the headteacher and management teams and a supportinve PTA.

This school is good with quite good teachers. A few of my favourites are Mr Giovanelli, Ms Saéz and Miss Rogers.
