We are a large, friendly, multi ethnic, inclusive primary school and nursery situated in Canning Town, East London.

We offer outstanding care and support. Our aim is to provide for all our children's needs and enable them all to achieve their potential and grow into confident and successful citizens of the future. The school is on one floor and is wheelchair friendly, the school is continuously planning to ensure all are safe and secure in a vibrant environment.

Ravenscroft Primary School is a very special school where we combine outstanding standards of educational attainment (ranking with the highest attaining primary schools in the country) with a wide range of extra-curricular opportunities. We encourage our pupils to see themselves not just as being part of, and contributing to, our school community but to London, their city.

Ravenscroft is growing rapidly – we are now a three form entry school with a provision for children with autism. We are proud of all our pupils and they are proud of our school. Many of our pupils are with us from Nursery to Y6 but we warmly welcome the pupils who join us at different stages in their school career.

We place great emphasis on supporting our pupils to develop their resilience and on encouraging them to become aspirational. Our motto is at the heart of everything we do in school and we expect our pupils to explore, achieve, and fly!

As a school we aim to

  • work as a powerful and innovative team, in partnership with families and carers and with shared goals, to educate our children for the world they will grow up in.
  • have a real sense of shared responsibility.
  • be reflective of our work, responding flexibly and creatively to challenges.
  • provide an environment (indoor and outdoor) that is attractive, friendly, safe and caring.
  • share our work in a variety of ways – displays, performances, open lessons etc.
  • welcome and include all pupils in every area of school life and welcome families and carers into the daily life of the school.
  • communicate clearly and honestly.
  • contribute to, and enjoy being part of, the wider community.
  • Be happy!

Schools have a duty to safeguard and promote the welfare of children who are their pupils. At Ravenscroft we take very seriously our duty towards all our pupils who have been entrusted to our care and seek to provide a school environment where all children are safe, secure, valued, respected and listened to.

Our curriculum is designed to ensure that our children have the opportunity to learn and reflect on the values that underpin our lives. There are many crosscurricular opportunities embedded which support the development of an understanding and appreciation of British Values.Through promoting British values, we expect our children to become responsible citizens for the future who show mutual respect and tolerance of others, value their own liberty and understand the rules of law and democracy.

Their experiences in Ravenscroft support and promote British Values an all aspects of school life . Democracy for instance is embedded by pupils understanding that our governors are mainly elected and by children being involved in a number of decision making processes. The Rule of Law is evident for example in the school’s hierarchical structure and the high standards of behaviour expected and maintained in school.

In addition the school adheres strictly to national laws relating to attendance, national assessments, healthy food etc. Individual Liberties are evident throughout the curriculum and individual rights such as the freedom to wear certain clothing relating to their religion are clear to pupils. Mutual Respect and Tolerance are apparent in school not only on a daily basis but also when they are highlighted as families join us to celebrate the work done by children as part of religious festivals.
