St Fagans Church in Wales Primary School is a voluntary aided co-educational day school, situated on the western edge of the city of Cardiff in the parishes of St Fagans with Michaelston-Super-Ely. Originally situated in the village of St. Fagans, we moved to a new, larger building in February 1993 in order to meet an increasing demand for places. We are a very happy school, with a strong Christian ethos, in which children and staff feel secure and valued as individuals.

Ensure that our pupils develop into happy, productive and fulfilled members of society. We recognise the long term benefits inherent in developing pupils who will grow to become responsible global citizens. To this end, we provide learning and experiences which: - promote good relationships based upon sensitivity, mutual respect, tolerance and trust; - build pupils’ self esteem and encourage them to have high expectations of themselves and other people; - instil in everyone the benefits of respecting individuality and difference; - teach our pupils to care for and respect the local and global environment; - encourage a healthy lifestyle and a positive attitude towards personal well being.

We provide an attractive, stimulating and welcoming environment with high quality resources for learning both within and outside of the classroom. We have developed a broad skills based curriculum which is accessible to pupils of all abilities and which is relevant and responsive to varying needs and interests. Good adult-pupil ratios and high quality teaching supports pupils to reach their full potential and to acquire the knowledge and skills which will enable them to adapt to the demands of an increasingly technological twenty-first century.

In our curriculum and teaching, we strive to develop pupils with lively, enquiring minds who regard learning as a life-long process. Our enquiry based approach to teaching and learning allows us to set our activities in ‘real life’, relevant contexts and we maximise opportunities to take learning beyond the classroom as much as possible. In this way, we present learning as a process which continues beyond the domain of school and as a constant journey. Similarly, staff are encouraged to engage in a programme of continual professional development and regularly share their experiences as learners in the classroom alongside pupils.

School Values

Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do. They underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our pupils as confident, happy citizens.
