Maitland Christian School provides Christian educationfor Prep to Year 12 students, with the purpose of helping them to develop spiritually, academically, physically and socially. The school was established in 1983 by Metford Community Baptist Church and continues to be a ministry of the church but has expanded to include families from all Christian denominations.

The school employs suitably qualified and professional staff and is registered and accredited with the NSW Board of Studies, Teaching and Educational Standards. We are affiliated with Christian Schools Australia, which is a peak body providing professional services, development, direct assistance, information and advice to Christian schools across Australia.

Maitland Christian School is administered by a non-profit company which appoints a board of directors to govern the school. The board of directors, which consists of representatives from Metford Community Baptist Church and the parent community, is responsible for the development of the school’s policies and long-term planning. The school motto, “Do all for God’s glory”, encourages each member of the school to strive for excellence in every aspect of their life.

Our purpose is to be a Christian educational community, growing faith, character and abilities through teaching and learning excellence, in partnership with families and the Church.  We pursue the following strategic intentions towards our purpose so that:

  • Our Graduates will grow in faith, character and abilities, being encouraged to live God’s purposes for their lives, to respond to the gospel of Jesus and to have a Christian perspective that equips them to meet the challenges of the world;
  • Our Staff will model Christian character and strive for teaching and learning excellence. They will grow spiritually, professionally and relationally to enable them to add significant value to the learning experiences of our students;
  • Our resource sustainability will allow us to continue to provide and maintain an inspiring environment to achieve our purpose;
  • Our culture is Christ-centred and partners with families and the church. It will strengthen us as a welcoming, accessible and outward-looking Christian educational community that grows faith, character and abilities through partnerships with local, national and global communities;
  • Our governance will ensure we provide effective strategic and operational leadership to achieve our purpose and to do all for God’s glory.

ver 30 years ago, the Metford Community Baptist Church had the vision to step out in faith and establish a distinctly Christian School. This school would see the home, church and school working together to provide a unique Christ-centred education. Today, God has blessed that vision and the trust that those founding families had in Him. From a humble beginning of 22 students in 1983, the school is now a Prep to Year 12 school of well over 500 students.

Our school motto is "Do all for God’s glory". In His strength, we continue to be a community that is changing and equipping young people to serve God, today and into the future. Through classroom based programs, extra-curricular activities, interactions with other Christian Schools and growing mission and service programs, shaping the hearts and minds of our students is at the forefront and continues to be an important focus.

Staff at Maitland Christian School are committed Christians and are dedicated to catering for the spiritual, academic, social and physical needs of each child. Our facilities are of a high quality and students enjoy well-resourced, air-conditioned classrooms and great IT resources. Quality instruction, based in a Christian worldview, is producing healthy academic results and growth in student learning. Our annual report reflects lots of exciting progress in students across the academic spectrum. This learning occurs in a caring Christian environment, which aims to equip and develop each child.
