Abbotsleigh, a Pre Kindergarten to Year 12 Anglican day and boarding school for girls located in Wahroonga, on Sydney’s North Shore. We always have, and always will, champion equality for women and girls. Abbotsleigh is a leader in girls’ education, where both learners and educators thrive. Our girls are unafraid to be awesome. We empower our girls to serve and inspire the community and become strong global citizens and courageous, socially responsible leaders. At Abbotsleigh, we are inspired by hope and we respect, explore and experience the beauty and wonder of the Christian faith. The greatest professionalism exists throughout the school, always aimed at building a better future.
Our vision for the future is outlined in our Strategic Plan for Abbotsleigh 2018-2025. Please watch the video above which was launched to parents at Speech Day in December 2017. We empower amazing girls to do amazing things. Our teachers are role models who inspire each girl to reach her personal best. Their lessons last a lifetime. Our holistic education underpinned by the Christian faith, helps our girls thrive today and tomorrow.
Abbotsleigh's motto is tempus celerius radio fugit (time flies faster than a weaver's shuttle). As the shuttle flies a pattern is woven, with the threads being the people, buildings and events. The pattern is Abbotsleigh as it continues to grow in complexity and richness each year. The motto was given to the School by Miss Marian Clarke, whose family crest was a weaver's shuttle with 'tempus fugit radio celerit', a form of the motto which was used by the School until 1924 when the ungrammatical Latin was changed to its present correct form.
