Job summary

Jobs at this level are responsible for effectively supervising STC’s low budget and/or low risk technical projects with respect to time and project schedules. Also, they may be expected to coordinate and perform administrative tasks for high budget and/or high risk projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manages the day to day team operations within a specified scope, by undertaking related work processes and ensuring accuracy.
  • Supports team members and resolves routine queries to ensure work continuity.
  • Participates in articulating comprehensive project plans for STC’s low budget and/or low risk projects and develops project management processes of assigned technical projects.
  • Supervises juniors in monitoring the performance of internal and external contractors, ensuring the documented scope of work is executed and all relevant procedures are followed.
  • Assists in assessing the health of select running technical projects against schedules, budgets and objectives, reporting status to immediate seniors on a regular basis and highlighting variations from schedule or budget, if any.
  • Participates in identifying project scope changes and assists in planning changes, as guided by immediate senior.
  • Participates in performing cost – benefit analysis of future projects and communicates relevant statistics to seniors and various departments, in order to articulate effective action plans to optimize project profitability.
  • Coordinates and networks extensively with key stakeholders internally and externally, in order to ensure buy – in and involvement for achieving the objectives of assigned STC technical projects.
  • Ensures all the projects under his/her purview are implemented in compliance with all relevant project management standards, established policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Participates in identifying risks affecting assigned STC technical projects and seeks support in developing assessment and mitigation strategies, from a project management point of view.
  • Participates in performing routine tasks related to STC’s high budget and/or high risk technical projects, under the guidance of immediate senior.
  • Supervises the preparation of standard project management templates to be used across various project phases and forwards the same to immediate senior, for review and approval.
  • Assists in the development of guidelines for application and use of automated project management tools.
  • Supervises the team in specific internal projects aimed at improving operational efficiencies in the project management processes.
  • Supervises periodic audits to inspect STC’s technical projects from a project management point of view and reports audit results to relevant departments for articulating effective action plans.
  • Analyses the best practices in the field of project management and assists in effectively implementing these in STC, in order to optimize the entire project management life cycle.
  • Resolves routine queries related to project management standards and templates and acts as a first point of contact for resolution/clarification of any issues.
  • Ensures all approved technical reports relevant to Technical Project Management, to ensure ease of access, when required.
  • Liaises with other supervisors to build effective working relationships and identifies synergies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering in related technical discipline
  • Relevant certification in Project Management (PMP, Prince 2 etc.) preferred

Required Experience

3 – 5 years of experience of leading small scale and low complexity technical projects
