The Hills Grammar School was founded in 1982 with the purchase of a 10-hectare site in Kenthurst, 30km north-west of Sydney CBD. It was a beginning that had boldness and hope at its heart. The almost-country school of 1983 now sits on the perimeter of rapid suburban expansion and the original enrolment of 182 students has increased to 950 and our campus now covers 18.4 hectares. Infrastructure, including rail, is under construction nearby to service the fast-growing Hills District population and whilst most of our students come from within a 15 kilometre radius, Hills Grammar still sits within an eminently beautiful and natural parcel of land where learning is central and distraction minimal.

Students enjoy the same collegial ambience that set it apart 34 years ago, most apparent in the easy conviviality between students and teachers. There are no bells to herald the change of classes. Native birds can be heard above the chatter of children, while the presence of bush-dwelling goannas and echidnas are almost taken for granted. These priceless experiences make life at Hills Grammar special.

Pre-schoolers to HSC students occupy the same campus, creating a strong family feel confirmed by a non-selective entry policy that favours siblings. Our school also mirrors the diverse nature of modern Australia and is proudly inclusive, a reality emphasised by our curriculum which strives to be outward-looking and relevant to a changing world.

Our emphasis lies in the provision of a broad, liberal education, including the International Baccalaureate PYP Program in Early Childhood to Year 6 and a commitment to the rigorous offerings of the New South Wales curriculum up to the Higher School Certificate. Knowing that some students will change careers many times in their lives we promote thinking skills, encourage curiosity and strive to instil a deep love of learning because these qualities, above others are sustaining and will aid our graduates as they enter the world beyond our gates.
