Since 1927, Avon Old Farms School has excelled at cultivating young men of integrity who honor wisdom, justice, inclusion, service, and the pursuit of truth. Avon understands boys and appreciates their energy and how they learn. We have created an environment where students at our all boys boarding school in Connecticut are able to become their best selves by focusing on the values of brotherhood, scholarship, integrity, and sportsmanship. Built upon these strong cornerstones, the lessons learned at Avon will endure for a lifetime.

Our mission statement, “Avon Old Farms School strives to be the best college preparatory school for boys by cultivating young men of integrity, who honor wisdom, justice, inclusion, service, and the pursuit of truth,” effectively describes our goal in working with each of our students. It is difficult to spend time on our campus without feeling a mighty sense of place and community which guides the traditional education that occurs in our classrooms, on our playing fields, in our performance venues, and throughout our 800 acres of natural beauty.

Because we know and understand boys, we are able to inspire them and to help them along the road that leads to self-discovery, independence, and manhood. The lessons learned in the Village of Old Farms are forged through shared experiences with faculty and brothers. They are lessons that endure and are built within the foundations of our core values of brotherhood, scholarship, integrity, and sportsmanship.

Avon teachers are completely immersed in the community as dorm parents, coaches, and mentors. As a result, they really know their students. Our faculty forge meaningful relationships with students through a structured mentor program, and develop an understanding of how each student best learns and what he needs to excel. As experts in their fields, teachers at Avon bring lessons to life and create compelling context for engaging class discussion. Creativity, innovation, and collaboration are taught by example through practical application, inquiry, and debate.

With a student body of 404 boys from 26 states and 24 countries, our students learn to become citizens of the world, with friends from all corners of the Earth. A boy's roommate might be from another country, and his lab partner might have a different religion; however, rather than being afraid of differences, the Village of Avon Old Farms provides a safe environment for our boys to explore their differences openly at a diverse boarding school in the Northeast.
