Improving lives and contributing to healthier communities is one of the most rewarding things you can do. A career in medicine or health as a doctor, physiotherapist, medical researcher or other health professional is exciting and dynamic, and provides an opportunity to make a real difference.

This innovative and fast-tracked course focuses on human clinical sciences and builds the foundational professional skills you'll need for a career in medicine, allied health or medical research.

Key Features

  • This course is the ideal preparation for Macquarie's Doctor of Medicine (Macquarie MD) – or other graduate-entry medicine program – as well as for further study in physiotherapy or for a career in a range of health and medical professions or research.
  • You'll get to your career goal sooner by fast-tracking your studies – complete your bachelor degree in two years instead of three by using additional sessions in the summer and winter breaks.
  • You'll have the option to receive targeted preparation for medical school admissions tests and interviews.
  • You'll build practical technical skills using the latest simulation technology and through working with human anatomical specimens.
  • You'll learn in an environment that is home to Macquarie University Hospital – Australia's first and only private, not-for-profit hospital on a university campus.
  • You'll have the opportunity to undertake work experience in a healthcare setting or medical research facility.

Suitable For

The Bachelor of Clinical Science is ideal if you who wish to continue on to a graduate-entry medicine program such as the Macquarie MD, a postgraduate program in a related field at Macquarie University (eg the Doctor of Physiotherapy), or if who want to complete your degree in two years instead of three.

What You'll Study

Part of what makes Macquarie future focused is that we allow you the freedom to explore your interests across a range of areas, rather than lock you in to a single, narrow field. So follow your passions and tailor your course to your needs and interests.

Units

Units are what we call subjects. Most full-time students take four units – each worth a fixed number of credit points – per session.

Entry Requirements

For students from overseas, Macquarie uses an international selection rank to determine the minimum eligibility requirement for each undergraduate course. This rank has been converted into equivalent scores for various recognised international high school qualifications and university entrance examinations, including global qualifications like the International Baccalaureate (IB) and GCE A-Levels.

English Language Requirements

All applicants for undergraduate coursework studies at Macquarie University are required to provide evidence of proficiency in English.

You may satisfy the English language requirements if you have completed:

  • Senior secondary studies equivalent to the NSW HSC
  • One year of Australian or comparable tertiary study in a country of qualification

Alternative entry

At Macquarie, we are all about success. With our International Academic Entry Program, we recognise your individual strengths, interests, and personal circumstances. If you have not achieved the overall score required for your program, but demonstrate particular strength in relevant subjects, we may consider you for alternative entry.
