Human Resource Management

Our Human Resource Management Intermediate Diploma in Professional Development is approved by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), the human resource management (HRM) professional body. Available to study part-time in the evening, you’ll address core human resource human resource (HR) issues such as:

• The development of professional practice
• Business issues and the contexts of HR
• Managing and coordinating the HR function
• Using information in HR

This HR diploma will also provide you with a solid grounding in organisational design and employment relationships. You’ll be able to select specialist areas of HR to study including resourcing and talent planning, employee engagement and HR service delivery, or reward and performance management and organisational development.

Accreditation for your career

You’ll also be studying on a course that's approved by the professional body for HRM – the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD). Successful completion of this Diploma, in conjunction with joining the CIPD, will allow you to become an Associate Member of the CIPD. Successfully completing our CIPD Level 5 undergraduate course will be of major significance in helping you to gain HR roles not only in the UK but also abroad.

Staff and guest speakers

Our staff are dedicated to their research into personnel, or human, resources management. You’ll be able to learn from their latest insights by attending staff research seminars. The teaching team places a strong emphasis on promoting a friendly and supportive environment. A programme of guest speakers from industry and authors of eminent works will also contribute to your learning on this HR qualification in London.In addition, you can take advantage of the regular HR employability sessions run by our careers team.

Assessment

This certification is assessed entirely through coursework. The individual modules are assessed as follows:

• Managing and Developing HR Professional Practice will be assessed by a portfolio comprising three components (4,000 words).
• Organisations and People: Context, Strategy and Practice will be assessed by a consultancy report (3,500 words).
• Resourcing, Engaging and Delivering for Success will be assessed via coursework based on an integrative case study (3,500 words).
• Managing Organisational Development, Performance and Reward will be assessed via an academic essay (3,500 words).

All assessments will require you to present an integrated approach that demonstrates that you have met all the learning outcomes of the module being assessed. The coursework for core modules will be submitted in week 15, whereas coursework for the optional modules will be submitted in week 14.

Professional accreditation

Our Intermediate Diploma in Professional Development in HRM is approved by the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development (CIPD). You must join CIPD at the start of your course. Successfully complete the course and join the CIPD to gain the CIPD’s Intermediate Level Diploma and register for Associate CIPD membership.

After the course

Completion of our CIPD-approved university Level 5 award will provide you with the specialist skills, knowledge and abilities you need to apply effective HRM solutions within different organisational settings. our newly-acquired skills and HR knowledge will enable you to progress from administrative to managerial roles, taking on extra responsibilities in your workplace. It also equips you with the knowledge you need to move onto a Level 7 CIPD qualification, which will be of use if you want to work in the more strategic HR roles.

This will enhance your career progression and advancement, either within your current organisation or within another organisation. If you successfully complete our Human Resources Management Intermediate Diploma in Professional Development, you may be considered for entry on to our Human Resources Management Postgraduate Diploma, at the discretion of the tutors.

The University’s Postgraduate Diploma in Human Resource Management, together with joining CIPD, leads to the CIPD’s Advanced Level Diploma, the professional body’s highest award. Combined with suitable work experience, this award will allow you to apply for Chartered status of the CIPD (CMCIPD or CFCIPD), further enhancing your employability.
