Reporting to the Manager, Academic Advising and Program Administration, we are currently recruiting an Academic Advisor to provide guidance to current and prospective students on the School of Business’ program areas including accounting, financial services, human resources, management, supply chain, marketing, administrative, legal, and more. The Role

  • Key contact for current students, prospective students, Office of the Registrar, International Centre and Student Awards
  • Assist students in making informed decisions on their educational goals
  • Work with students to plan program completion taking into consideration pre-requisite requirements, major and minor requirements, elective requirements and course scheduling
  • Provide in-depth advising for certificate/diploma/degree laddering opportunities and evening and online course options
  • Provide guidance to students on School of Business and SAIT academic policies and procedures
  • Plan and execute group advising sessions for students
  • Refer students to appropriate campus resources when applicable
  • Advise prospective students on program options, admission and selection requirements
  • Coordinate with the Academic Chair to manage the selection process for assigned programs
  • Represent the School of Business at information sessions, Open House, SAIT Start and external events
  • Research and recommend students to the Student Awards Office for scholarships
  • Coordinate internal and external communications
  • Assist with administering student instructional report evaluations.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate Degree in relevant discipline (Business Administration, Education)
  • Minimum of two years of relevant educational experience in student advising, planning or counselling
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
  • Ability to work independently and as a contributing member of a team
  • Exceptional verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Capable of creating rapport with students to build an academic advising relationship
  • Exhibit a clear understanding of SAIT’s student-first culture
  • Ability to develop strong working relationships with internal partners
  • Possess flexibility and adaptability skills in a changing environment
  • Intermediate knowledge in Microsoft Office suite
  • Previous knowledge with Banner database an asset.
  • Ability to collect data, analyze and problem solve
  • Must be able to work some rotational evening shifts and occasional events outside of normal work hours.
