Job Summary
The ideal candidate should have experience teaching music to children aged between 5 years of age and fifteen. The post holder will teach music class to all students in our school and the post will also attract some administrative hours working with the Music Director.
Experience with the British National Curriculum would be a definite advantage but a passion for teaching music would afford the candidate with the opportunity to learn and grow by understanding how the National Curriculum is delivered.
Music Teacher Job-Specific Skills
- Highly desired PGCE, Music Teacher certificates or qualification of music teacher
- Teaches skills in music understanding and appreciation, harmony, explorations in Band music or choral music to primary and lower secondary as well as Year 10 (IGCSE) students, providing opportunities for students to study a diverse range of musical topics
- Plans and executes a balanced music program and organizes class time so that preparation, rehearsal, and instruction can be accomplished within the allotted time
- Provides individual and small group instruction in order to adapt the music curriculum to the needs of each pupil and encourages students to develop individual musical skills to the greatest extent possible
- Contributes or prepares school-wide music concerts such as the Christmas concert and Whole School Music Concert with Music Directors and teacher input
- Utilizes a repertoire of all types of music literature, including traditional and contemporary that are appropriate for the ages and skill levels of pupils
- Maintains care/responsibility for school-owned music, musical instruments, and equipment to prevent loss or abuse. Makes minor adjustments and requests repairs to instruments as required
- Evaluates each pupil’s musical growth, performance, and musical understanding, through summative as well as more formal assessments
- Assesses each individual’s contribution to the performance of the group, and differentiates accordingly and writes the end of term Music reports
- Maintain student behavioral standards to ensure a productive and disciplined environment during group rehearsals, practices, and performances
- Maintain a safe and positive learning environment for students
- Participates in curriculum development programs, student activities, and faculty committees
- Assists the Music Director in day to day matters
- Runs afternoon school clubs and one attends staff meetings
- Supervision duties during children’s play time
British Education Korea was established in 2010 and has two International Pre-Prep Institutions in Bundang and Dongtan, both well-planned and desirable areas of Seoul. The first Pre-Prep opened in Bundang in 2010 followed by the opening of a second a year later at Dongtan in 2011.
