Job Summary

the Legal Administrative Studies Department in the School of Business is seeking contract instructors, non-regular type 1, to teach one or more courses. Classes are between the hours of 10am-7pm on weekdays. The successful applicant(s) will be required to teach one or more of the following courses in support of our Legal Administrative Studies Certificate program:

Spring semester

LGLA 1206 Family Law 
Preparation and processing of family law documents, including documentation related to marriage agreements, separation agreements, trial procedures, division of family assets and defended and undefended divorces.

LGLA 1399 Work Experience/Job Preparation 
The objective of this course is to help students to obtain practicum placements by assisting with resumes and cover letters, interview tips and techniques and identifying firms that may be interested in taking a practicum student.

Fall semester

LGLA 1205 Litigation
Preparation and processing of civil litigation documents, including application and trial procedures.

LGLA 1125 Legal Office Procedures 
Students will study and apply the procedures and documentation related to a general legal office for success in the workplace.

Minimum qualifications to teach in the Legal Administrative Studies Program are as follows:

  • Master’s degree or equivalent
  • Related academic credential from an accredited program of at least two years in duration (e.g. paralegal diploma, legal education, LLB etc.)
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in a legal/law-related environment
  • Minimum of two years teaching experience in a post-secondary or professional environment; court-room experience may also be used to satisfy this requirement.
