Teaching Assistants

Job Summary

Sacramento Country Day School, a leader in Pre-Kindergarten – 12th grade independent school education since 1964, seeks full and part-time Assistant Teachers in grades PK-2.

Teaching assistants support our classroom teachers with the following

• Delivering instruction, working with small groups or individuals
• Monitoring and assisting students in the classroom
• Supervision at recess and lunch
• Assisting students with problem solving and conflict resolution
• Classroom management (including whole class on occasion)
• Supporting students’ social-emotional growth
• Organizing and preparing materials and supplies
• Other duties of a supportive nature in the classroom or playground

Requirements

The successful candidate will have most of the following attributes:

• Bachelor’s degree (or in progress)
• PK position (2:30pm-5:00pm M-F) requires 12 ECE units
• Success working with children in a group setting
• Patience, kindness, and an overtly warm manner with children
• Ability to set boundaries with children in a firm but loving way
• Ability to support the social-emotional growth of students and support problem-solving and conflict resolution
• Ability to run a learning group or activity (typically reading or math) with direction from the classroom teacher
• Confidence taking over whole class activities on occasion with a lesson plan from the teacher

School requirements: Background check, First Aid/CPR, negative TB result.
