Job Summary

Bernard Zell Anshe Emet Day School is seeking an experienced, innovative, and energetic third-grade teacher.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teach, guide, and inspire students in general studies subject areas (reading, writing, math and social studies).
  • Differentiate instruction for a wide range of students’ abilities and interests.
  • Communicate regularly with parents via online updates, phone calls, emails and in person.
  • Collaborate with Learning/Social Work Services and outside specialists to coordinate individual educational plans.
  • Exhibit comfort as part of a professional team.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education; M.A. preferred.
  • Two years of lead teacher experience.
  • Experience providing a nurturing, creative, and inclusive environment for students.
  • Preferred knowledge of and experience with Lucy Calkins Reading/Writing Workshop model.
  • Knowledge of Common Core Math Standards.
  • Preferred experience with Responsive Classroom Approach.
  • Appreciation of a diverse, pluralistic Jewish community.
  • Ability to embrace technology and new ways of extending students’ learning and creative capacities; knowledge of interactive whiteboard technology and iPads preferred.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and administration to support and extend the objectives of the curriculum.
  • Well-developed communication and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of and experience with the cognitive, social, and emotional issues of 3rd-grade students.
  • Willingness to learn and grow professionally.
