This position is within the Civil and Environmental Engineering programs that are new stand-alone degree programs at UNBC. The programs focus on engineering for northern climates, and wood and wood hybrid designs for sustainable development. The ideal candidate should be willing to help develop the curriculum to support a strong foundation in civil engineering principles while exploring design challenges for the future. Candidates should have an interest in sustainable design and cold climate engineering. The candidate’s initial focus will be establishing and delivering foundational engineering courses in structural and/or geotechnical engineering. Additionally, experience and interest in multi-year community design projects would be a benefit. The ability to supervise senior undergraduate and graduate students in research projects as well as establish industrial partnerships will also be critical.
The successful candidate must hold a Ph.D. degree and preferably have post-doctoral experience and a record of teaching excellence. The successful candidate must have or be eligible to obtain licensure as a P.Eng. in British Columbia. The successful applicant will be a key contributor to the development of Civil Engineering at UNBC and help to shape the curriculum for both the undergraduate and graduate programs and deliver this new program. The successful applicant will also establish an outstanding independent program of research.
