We deliver ‘The Western Experience’, an exemplary learning experience that engages the best and brightest people challenging them to meet ever-higher standards in the classroom and beyond. We inform every dimension of a student – intellectual, social, cultural as well as physical. From our home in London, Ont., Canada, outward across every continent, Western prepares future leaders to succeed. In 1916, the current campus was purchased from the Kingsmill family, and in 1923 the university was renamed The University of Western Ontario.

Since that first class graduated in 1883, the university has become a vibrant centre of learning. Through 12 faculties and three affiliated university colleges, Western today offers its 36,000-plus students more than 400 specializations, majors and minors. It was at Western where Sir Frederick Banting rose from a restless sleep in 1920 and wrote out 25 words that led to his discovery of insulin. It was at Western where Canada’s first French Immersion program was established at Trois-Pistoles, Québec, in 1932 – a program that continues today. It was at Western where researchers led by Ivan Smith developed the world’s first ‘cobalt bomb’ to treat cancer in 1951, increasing the cure rate for cervical cancer to 75 per cent from 25 per cent.

Founded in 1878, Western today ranks among Canada's top-10 research universities and is recognized for delivering an academic experience second to none. Our dynamic campus community is characterized by an expanding array of opportunities for intellectual, social and cultural growth, and a reputation for attracting and developing leaders—faculty, students, staff and alumni—who make a difference at the local, national and global level. I invite you to explore my website—and those sites of my senior administrative team—to familiarize yourself with all we do and aspire to achieve at Western.

From the initial aspirations of Bishop Hellmuth to the internationally known research of our top scholars today, these leaders of vision, courage and imagination have always looked to the future in shaping Western University.  In 1916, the current campus was purchased from the Kingsmill family, and in 1923 the university was renamed The University of Western Ontario. Since that first class graduated in 1883, the university has become a vibrant centre of learning. Western, a leader in wind engineering since 1965, testing such structures as the World Trade Center, Sears Tower and Jakarta Tower, will continue its dominance with the opening of the WindEEE Dome research facility. Western, a leader in business education since its founding, has continued to lead at home and abroad thanks to construction of a state-of-the-art Richard Ivey School of Business in 2012 and the opening of North America’s first business school campus in Hong Kong in 1998. Western, a medical advancement leader since its founding, has continued to push innovation most recently when an HIV vaccine developed by Dr. Chil-Yong Kang received approval by the United States Food and Drug Administration to start human clinical trials, a first of its kind, in 2012.

At this University, the exceptional faculty fosters both academic excellence and personal growth, which has inspired my child to reach new heights in their education.

My older cousin graduated from Western University a few years and there are lots of friendly people who go here. The staff here were nice. However, it's very far from where I live. But anyways, it's a good university. If you are trying to decide whether to go to Western University or not, I would recommend it.

Spent 5 years of my life here, and I'm going to miss it so much! My profs were all top-notch and created an awesome learning experience, and the student life is great if you put some effort into making the most of it. No school is without its shortcomings, but going to Western was still the best decision I've ever made :)

Western has an incredibly beautiful campus teeming with life. It has a good blend of natural and man made element, cementing the fact that you’re in forest city. Like any university the staff varies in quality but overall the student experience is enjoyable and welcoming!

Loved my years at UWO! Beautiful campus, fabulous professors and classrooms, amazing gym and student complex and London is a great town to live in.

Not as great as the hype around this school. Was there for one year. Everything is expensive, met vain and shallow people. Garbage was all over campus, this school does not take the environment seriously. During exam periods, I had multiple exams in one day which destroyed my brain. Overall, not worth the money for me.

A western student in 1983-1986 in math faculty. Wonderful experience as an international student from Malaysia. The campus is absolutely beautiful! Had the chance to visit the place in 1996, this time with my family! They love it too.. All the best. Regards.

I loved the team members and faculty staff that I met there while working there as a student. Extremely friendly and courteous with devotion to uphold the students' best achievements.

Waste of money, idk why this school is so overrated,it's a tier 3 university at best. This school's academic sucks, and not managed well, and scams my money by being forced to buy lab manuel, mastering physics and mastering engineering. Exams are also very unprofessional.

I really enjoyed Western University and the campus is amazing. Unfortunately, the Parking Management has awful customer service and are very rude and inconsiderate.
