Job Summary

Tutoring in the field of knowledge for the qualification is key to the UOC’s teaching model. Tutors welcome new students, provide them with academic guidance on anything relating to the educational programme, and help students develop the skills they require to use the Virtual Campus to full effect. Tutors introduce students to the tools and resources provided by the UOC’s virtual learning environment, enabling them to make the best possible use of them as quickly as possible.

Tutors also help students discover the wide range of opportunities that university life offers. In short, tutors provide personalized attention to help each individual student feel part of the University community. Tutors monitor students’ academic activity and provides them with general guidance as well as individual advice on their progress during their studies at the university. Tutors also settle any doubts or queries students might have.

Conditions:

Acceptance of the affiliated teaching agreement:

The agreement the UOC establishes with affiliated teaching staff depends on the latter party’s main activity:

In the case of course instructors who are members of another university’s teaching staff, the teaching work is carried out within the framework of the agreements that the UOC has signed with Catalan and Spanish universities, provided that the agreement is applicable and has been determined as such by the university of origin.

If the agreement is applicable, it will not be necessary to sign any specific contract, as the relationship will be formalized within the framework of the above-stated agreement. In these cases, the inter-university agreement will prevail over any other instrument for formalizing the working relationship. In the case of affiliated teaching staff who are members of one of the following groups:

• Independent professionals
• Professionals employed by companies or public or private institutions
• Teachers at universities with which the UOC does not have an agreement (or it is not applicable)
• The UOC formalizes the working relationship by means of a civil contract for providing professional services. The contract is signed electronically on the Virtual Campus.

Fees:

The fees paid for the external provision of teaching services are calculated on the basis of the activity assigned in each case, which may include extra responsibilities as well as tutoring. The fees are paid in installments over the semester, either directly to the recipient or through his or her university.

Requirements:

• University qualification in the same field as the qualification with a tutor vacancy.
• University and/or professional teaching experience in the last three years related with the knowledge area of the tutor vacancy.
• Knowledge of the programme of study for the qualification.
• Experience guiding and monitoring students in education centers.
• Experience coordinating and organizing groups both online and in person.
• Excellent command of the language in which the teaching will be given.
• Having a separate main line of work as well as user-level knowledge of office applications and the internet are essential requirements.
