The UOC needs experts who, because of their main activity related to the area of knowledge they are applying for, can offer quality part-time collaboration. The basic functions of teaching collaboration are mentoring and consulting.
The consultant (collaborator teacher) in a virtual learning environment is the person who presents, guides, plans, stimulates, guides, energizes, coheres and evaluates the learning processes of the student through a proactive attitude.
The role of the consultant (collaborating teacher) involves actions related to the individual and collective teaching attention of the students, the monitoring of their learning during the semester and the proposals for the improvement of the subject.
Therefore, the teaching collaborator will be in charge of solving doubts, proposing examples and additional clarifications that facilitate the student’s understanding of the subject, invigorate the debates and propose participation in the forums, correct assessment tests, giving feedback to facilitate the student learning process, etc. The consultant is coordinated by the UOC’s Professor.
They are essential requirements:
Selection criteria and conditions of collaboration
They are especially valued:
Computer requirements
In order to carry out these tasks of a teaching collaborator it is necessary to have a computer and a modem, ISDN or ADSL (we recommend connection via ADSL), a printer and a CD-ROM. The teaching collaborator must have a computer that is comparable to the one used by the students, in order to guarantee the quality of the communications.
Conditions of collaboration
The existence of a main activity is an essential requirement in order to carry out a teaching collaboration at the UOC. It is required that the teacher collaborator connects daily to the Virtual Campus and responds to the students within a maximum of 48 hours.
In the case of teaching collaborators who are part of the teaching staff of a university, the collaboration is carried out within the framework of the agreements that the UOC has signed with Catalan and state universities.
In other cases, they act at the UOC on the basis of a civil contract for the provision of professional services. The fees for the external provision of teaching services are calculated based on the activity in each case: tutoring, consulting and other activities for the development of learning resources. Fees are paid in installments during the semester, directly to the person concerned or through his university
