Católica Lisbon School of Business and Economics (CATÓLICA-LISBON) invites applications for a full-time tenure track Assistant Professor position in Economics. Seasoned Assistant or Associate Professors interested in applying will also be considered in the search at their appropriate level. We are looking for candidates whose main research interests have a strong empirical focus on areas of applied microeconomics, including Behavioral Economics, Labor Economics, Economics of Education, Industrial Organization, Development Economics or Public Economics.
Faculty and Research Environment
CATÓLICA-LISBON provides a vibrant research environment. The core research faculty consists of more than 40 tenure-track members, with doctorates from top North American (including MIT, NYU, CMU, UCLA, Columbia, Yale, Arizona, UBC, Stanford) and top European (including Bocconi, Ecole Polytechnique, LBS, LSE, Tilburg, RSM Erasmus) programs. Associate and assistant professors include nationals of France, Italy, Canada, Colombia, Brazil, Greece, Egypt, and Germany. The CUBE research unit of Católica-Lisbon received the highest rating for research excellence in Portugal of all social science units, including business schools, when evaluated by an international panel.
Faculty in Economics areas have published articles in American Economic Review, Journal of Political Economy, Review of Economic Studies, Journal of Economic Theory, Journal of Monetary Economics, Journal of International Economics, European Economic Review, Journal of Public Economics and Management Science.
Position Requirements
Tenure-track faculty are expected to maintain a research program targeted at top-tier journals in their field. Católica-Lisbon provides them with ample support to do so. Salary is competitive, and funding for research-related activities, including travel to international conferences, is provided. In addition, faculty are supported to apply for research funding from the Portuguese Science Foundation (FCT) and from European funding agencies. Tenure-track positions involve teaching the equivalent of 3 courses per year, in English, at the undergraduate, MSc and MBA levels, and potentially in executive education programs.
Candidates must demonstrate the potential to publish in top-tier economics journals. For Associate positions, candidates are expected to show a strong research track record in top journals, excellence in teaching, and the ability to add to the research reputation and productivity of the group.
