Junior Construction Estimator

Job Summary

This is an entry level position and a rare opportunity for an intellectually sharp and construction oriented individual with 0-2 years of experience in a professional construction business environment.

The successful candidate will perform assignments specific to construction project estimating duties, necessary to support the Senior Level Estimators and help the company. This position will offer continuous mentoring and training by Senior Level Estimators and Project Managers with “Hands On” responsibility to grow professionally, learn the necessary know-how and understand the estimating/quotation process. Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

• Reading drawings, specifications, and RFP’s
• Creating initial detailed take-offs to support construction cost estimates for all trades
• Support of Senior Estimators in the preparation of cost estimates and proposals
• Obtaining, analyzing, and tracking vendor quotes
• Tracking costs and quantities
• Visiting project sites with Project Manager to better understand our construction methods
• Attend training to develop relevant knowledge and skills.
• Manage invitations to bid work
• Review communications from architects and general contractors
• Download and organize electronic plan files
• Identify and document vital project information
• Accurately measure quantities using digital estimating software
• Identify details and specifications using digital estimating software
• Accurately input numbers and detail information into Microsoft Excel
• Identify plan and specification discrepancies
• Prepare pre-proposal document outlining scope of work
• Review project proposals
