“It’s the first day of school and it’s great to see the bright, young and hungry for learning faces entering our school. Our Regent Parents have been wonderful in supporting us with following protocol by keeping their Al Hosn apps open so we can check their vaccination status. When it comes to the safety of the school and our families, it is a collaborative effort, right from the administration staff, teachers, to our parents. They have all been supportive in making the first day of school safe and exciting. What a fantastic start to the first day of school and academic year!”- Mr. Jason King, Principal, Regent International School.
At Regent International School, parents, students and staff were excited to receive the news of the new protocols from the KHDA. We congratulate the KHDA on the positive and supportive protocols enabling schools to further enhance the learning environment and experience of all students. The pandemic has brought many stresses to our families where the wellbeing of all has been impacted on many different levels. Returning to fully physical learning from 3rd October will go a long way in addressing some of the wellbeing concerns faced by schools with online learning for some students. Naturally, where students and their families are still vulnerable, we will be supportive and offer an online provision. However, the impact of an in-person learning experience is incomparable.
“For the 2 months that I have been away on my summer vacation, I find that I miss coming to school and all of my friends. I’m so glad the day has finally come and I am back at school will all my friends together. I have a new teacher and I am ready to learn.” – Amin, Year 5 Student, Regent International School.
The pandemic has brought us much quicker into the digital world as well as helped building our resilience on a number of levels. Regent has been ahead of the curve even before the pandemic in ensuring that our staff and students have been upskilled with the variety of apps, such as Microsoft Teams, SeeSaw, One Note etc, to ensure that a high-quality education still takes place. We have also been using our Fortes Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology, so we know where our students are in their learning journey, what are we able to do, and to ensure that they’re making outstanding progress. These are tools that we will continue to use despite the new KHDA regulations as we have found them to be an add-on to the student learning experience.
What we cannot lose sight of is that we are human beings and we crave that physical contact. At Regent, we ensure that the wellbeing of our students is looked after. We ensure that they go home feeling cared for, feeling supported and make sure that they are getting an outstanding level of education.
Balance is the key to ensure that the students’ learning experience and environment continues to be enhanced but not at the expense of safety. The updated KHDA protocols allow us to continue to inspire minds and build the character of our students through our positive education approach. Equally, powered by our unique ‘Signature Programmes,’ we are a character-building and ambitiously innovative school with an inspirational, engaging, and dynamic learning environment at the core. This Academic Year, we are excited to do more with our innovative STEAM & Design Thinking programme; augmented by a next-generation AI learning platform to enable self-paced problem solving; our inspirational Performing Arts, Media & Communication programme; and our rich variety of Extracurricular activities. Our vision is to excite, inspire and challenge our curious and open-minded students with a desire to learn.
“I’m really excited for this year, there’s a lot of decision-making, and a lot of new things to try. I look forward to a lot of growth this year. I’m really excited to make my GCSE decisions and will be trying to get into the leadership team this year and do some good with that.” – Kate, Year 9 Student, Regent International School.
We are a school that is genuinely restless in our pursuit of excellence and the phrase ‘Every Child Matters’ is a live, real achievement and not merely a strap line.
