Defining holistic education amongst the best boarding schools in Switzerland since 1880.

Explore one of the most exceptional Swiss boarding schools. A place where rich tradition meets modern outlook in an unparalleled international learning and living environment for students of 8-18 years.

A 100% boarding school, all Roseans are boarders whose academic year is shared between two campuses in Switzerland: the Main Campus, set on a magnificent manorial estate in Rolle and the school’s Winter Campus, a beautiful village of chalets in the charming ski resort of Gstaad.

Le Rosey’s holistic education is focused on discovering and developing the talents of all students: strong bilingual academics lead to the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma or French Baccalaureate, with many Roseans choosing to learn two or even three other foreign languages alongside. These are complemented by a rigorous extracurricular programme, specially designed to encompass participation in sports, technology, the Arts, service learning and cultural activities, and for Roseans to seize every opportunity to expand their interests and commitments.

The culture at Le Rosey is one of passion for values, grounded in the history of a world-renowned Swiss boarding school, and one which continues to be told by thousands of alumni across the globe. Friendship and solidarity, self-respect and respect for others, intelligent discipline, courage to face challenges and the willingness to overcome them all distinguish student life for Roseans and prepare them to succeed independently in a constantly changing world.

The Rosey campus extends over a splendid park of 28 hectares where age-old trees surround the boarding houses and the sports fields. This exceptional environment is home to state-of-the-art educational, sporting and artistic facilities.

The students are housed in pleasant rooms, either singles or doubles depending on their age. They may decorate their rooms to suit their tastes and can work and relax there. The girls have their own campus, a few hundred metres from the boys’. The girls’ campus is located in beautiful parkland. All classes and many of the sporting and leisure activities are co-educational but Rosey girls also appreciate the intimacy of their very well-equipped campus.

The Juniors (boys and girls aged from 8 to 12) live and study on the main campus in their own large maison. The families of the boarding school teachers live in each house. They are there to listen to the everyday problems big or small of the pupils, and oversee discipline, maintain order and cleanliness and monitor the students’ personal study time.

Strong academics

  • All Rosey students study for an official examination: the International Baccalaureate (the IB) or the French baccalauréat (S. ES or L)
  • All teaching is bilingual, linguistically but also culturally, so that Rosey students understand “Anglo-Saxon” and “continental European” ways of thinking and reasoning.
  • The 120 teachers (for 420 students) are qualified professionals who care for each one of their students: constantly on hand within the boarding houses, they have been at Le Rosey for an average of over ten years.
  • Rosey students can study up to four languages at a time, choosing from among the twenty languages offered.
  • The privileges and obligations associated with life at Le Rosey are directly linked to the effort made and the results achieved.

Developing every talent

  • Le Rosey’s goal is to recognise and develop all the talents of Rosey students using academics, sports, and artistic, humanitarian, environmental and social programmes.
  • The Rosey campus is a heaven for students who are passionate about sports: football and rugby pitches; an athletics track; basketball, beach volleyball and tennis courts; 2 swimming pools; 2 fitness rooms; riding stables; a sailing centre; and many more student facilities.
  • Artistic life is also intense: three orchestras, two choirs, numerous musical ensembles and soloists, three theatre groups, dance, art workshops, photo studios, gastronomy, and more.
  • Rosey students are required, on a daily basis, to take initiative and assume responsibilities, such as leading a group, expressing themselves in public and developing their physical and psychological strengths.
  • Challenges, expeditions and trips are designed for students to better understand their limits as well as to explore the natural world and other cultures.

The IB curriculum at this school has truly inspired my child, and the dedication of the staff has fostered remarkable growth and confidence in their abilities.
