Dubai: Private schools urged to put staff safety first, avoid outdoor activities

Dubai’s Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) has urged private educational institutions across the emirate to take extra precautions in light of unstable weather expected over the coming days.

In an official statement posted from social media platform X, the KHDA noted, “in line with guidance from UAE authorities, schools are being asked to prioritise the safety of their staff and, where possible, consider flexible or alternative work arrangements as part of their preventive measures.”

“We are also aware that some schools and early childhood centers may be holding classes and extracurricular activities during the holidays. However, we strongly advise against organising any outdoor or off-campus activities for students during this period to ensure their safety. Stay safe,” KHDA added.

The advisory comes as parts of the UAE brace for unstable weather conditions, with forecasts indicating periods of rain, cloudy skies and possible thunderstorms continuing through the weekend.

Authorities have been reminding residents to remain cautious, particularly when travelling, as wet conditions can affect road safety and visibility. The expected rainfall and fluctuating weather have prompted government and private sectors, schools, and other institutions to review plans and adjust activities, as officials continue to emphasise safety first until conditions stabilise.
