Job Summary
As Principal Cloud Engineer – Cloud ERP, you will take end‑to‑end accountability for the infrastructure and cloud engineering patterns that enable secure connectivity, identity, observability, performance, and operational continuity for enterprise SaaS ERP platforms and their integrated ecosystem. You will engage internal and external stakeholders, lead technical design reviews, and ensure production‑grade service outcomes aligned to corporate standards and technology strategy.
In this role, you will:
- Own the design and engineering of robust cloud and hybrid infrastructure solutions that enable Cloud ERP services and their integrations, ensuring alignment to corporate technology strategy, standards, and architecture patterns.
- Lead technical consultancy and provide expert guidance across cloud engineering domains, acting as a senior technical authority for connectivity, identity, security, observability, and operational readiness required for Cloud ERP platforms.
- Own and maintain solution designs for complex programmes and environments, ensuring designs are secure, scalable, supportable, and operationally sustainable in a 24/7 enterprise context.
- Define and evolve architecture guiding principles, reference designs, and engineering playbooks for Cloud ERP‑adjacent cloud services, including network patterns, landing zones, policy enforcement, and shared services.
- Lead technical design reviews and assure delivery teams follow agreed standards and patterns, supporting exception governance where justified and driving improvement of standards where required.
- Ensure Cloud ERP enabling services meet service level outcomes for availability, capacity, continuity, security, performance, and reliability, defining and monitoring relevant engineering metrics and operational controls.
- Drive continuous improvement through proactive service optimisation, including capacity management, performance tuning, reliability engineering, and incident reduction initiatives across the Cloud ERP technology stack.
- Publish and maintain high‑quality documentation aligned to corporate standards, including detailed designs, configuration baselines, runbooks, operational procedures, and support manuals.
- Manage end‑of‑life and lifecycle replacement of infrastructure components and tooling in scope, ensuring continued conformance to standards and effective risk mitigation across operational and information security.
- Lead, coach, and coordinate a wider virtual team and technical stakeholders across delivery and operations to achieve consistent engineering outcomes, quality, and operational excellence.
Qualification
To be considered for this role, you must meet the below requirements:
- Degree or Honours (12+3 or equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
- 8+ years of experience in Information Technology, including engineering and operating enterprise‑grade cloud and/or hybrid infrastructure in a 24/7 environment.
- Proven experience delivering and supporting large‑scale, globally distributed systems, with strong exposure to security, resilience, and service continuity expectations.
- Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., Azure and/or AWS) and cloud governance concepts, including policy controls, identity, and secure network architectures.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automation practices (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, CI/CD), with the ability to drive standardisation and repeatable delivery.
- Strong understanding of identity and access fundamentals (e.g., SSO, MFA, RBAC) and operational security principles, including risk identification and mitigation.
- Demonstrated ability to influence and partner with internal stakeholders and external technology providers, communicating technical decisions clearly to varied audiences.
- Strong working knowledge of IT service management concepts (e.g., ITIL), with a track record of improving service delivery, reliability, and reducing incident trends.
